Contingency planning, also referred to as Business Continuity Planning
(BCP), is about a coordinated strategy that involves plans, procedures
and technical measures to enable the recovery of systems, operations,
and data after a disruption. Yet, most healthcare organizations either
do not have plans or if they do the plans are out of date or not tested.
Why should security professionals and officers care about contingency
planning? Contingency Plan is a HIPAA Security Rule standard that must
be met. Some industry experts say that among organizations that suffer
significant, sustained disasters, 20% are completely out of business
within 24 months. Contingency plans address the “availability” security
principle. The availability principle addresses threats related to
business disruption – so that authorized individuals such as physicians
and nurses have access to vital systems and information when required.
In this free, one-hour Webinar and Q&A, you will learn:
The HIPAA Security Rule has very specific requirements related to the
components of a Contingency Plan. Identify all components and
understand how they relate to each other.
A Business Impact Analysis (BIA) is the first step in developing a
comprehensive contingency plan. Examine how to conduct a BIA.
Step through templates for all critical documents that must be created
for a contingency plan.
Examine the NIST classifications of threats, the classification of
information categories, and the types of backup sites and other
solution options that your organization can consider for disaster
recovery purposes.
If you are looking at understanding contingency planning solution
options for addressing HIPAA Security gaps in your enterprise this
Webinar is for you. An hour of your time may save you days of effort
