I have attached a HIPAA Privacy & Security Awareness Training PowerPoint.  It is an updated version of one that I provided in March 2003.  It is very generic to small providers, but you may find it useful regardless of your size or role in the health care industry.

The HIPAA Privacy & Security Awareness Training PowerPoint has also been uploaded to the Share HIPAA group’s Files section.  It can be accessed/downloaded by going to the Share HIPAA group’s home page at http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/ShareHIPAA , signing in with your Yahoo ID and password and selecting “Files” from the left column.  In the file directory look for:

I have reviewed nearly three dozen HIPAA training programs and provided feedback to the developer or vendor on things they might do to improve the product.  One of the vendors, Simply HIPAA, asked if I would like to provide content for SimplyHIPAA’s training platform.  What a great  opportunity!   SimplyHIPAA iLearn is the name of the training program.  The iLearn HIPAA Overview is completed and I have asked SimplyHIPAA to make this course freely available for review and comment. 

The following link will allow you to register for access to both a presentation (Risk Analysis: First Step to HIPAA Security [presenters: John Parmigiani and me] along with the white paper, and PowerPoint) and the iLearn HIPAA Overview course.  When registering you will be asked for your user ID and password -- just make them up, but remember them so that you can return and access the presentation or the HIPAA Overview without having to re-register.  Also, I would be very interested in your comments and feedback.  So if you have the time, please complete the feedback form provided or email me directly at Barbara@... .
