Announcement:  HL7 begins outreach for Children's Preventive Health Services
                         attachment

In the Fall of 2002, an HL7 letter was sent inviting stakeholders to
participating in HL7 outreach for the development of the Children's
Preventive Health Services (CPHS) attachment content.  I have attached a
copy of this letter to jog you memories.  If you are getting this e-mail you
responded that you were interested in participating in this outreach
development.  At the end of 2002, the outreach development was put on hold
due to a priority shift in HL7s Attachment Special Interest Group (ASIG).
During 2003, the ASIG has spent a considerable amount of time re-drafted the
attachment standard into HL7's Clinical Document Architecture (CDA).  This
was a departure from the original standard developed for claims attachments.
The reason for this change is varied, but the main reason was to allow for
more flexibility in implementation of the attachment standard.  The CDA
allows for the delivery of imaged documents, text data or fully structured
codified data.  Now that this work is completed, the ASIG is committed to
continuing with its attachment development efforts. 
We will conduct our first conference call for the CPHS attachment on March
26, 2004.  Details of the call are below:

developed for CPHS meets your business needs.  Please feel free to pass this
information along to anyone who may be interested in joining this
