837 Claim And 278 Health Care Services Review Implementation Guides.


Dear Periodontal Information Standards Stakeholder:

We are creating a definition for a Periodontal Attachment standard for
use in electronic file submission between health care trading partners
who initiate and process requests for health care dental claims and
services review electronically. This standard will be available for use
by all health care entities that utilize additional patient information
to support a dental claim or dental health services review request. The
attached information describes our work group protocols, past
accomplishments, current objectives, and desired time frames.

Your subject matter expertise is critical to the success of this
initiative. Contact Karen Van Hentenryk at Karenvan@... by March
31, 2004 to become a participant in the Periodontal Attachment
Workgroup. We ask that you also forward this request to your
constituents, particularly if you are involved in an "association" or
"committee" type of organization. We expect that this particular
attachment development will complete the periodontal attachment (already
underway). Once the periodontal needs are addressed the workgroup will
proceed with development of attachments for other dental requests.
