Thanks Nan.  I will leave it up to Dr. Huang and will definitely address these issues.  I guess it all depends on how things look when she gets in there.  I appreciate you writing.

I am so sorry but had to post this. My 13 girl year old just asked if I
was writing to all my new friends the" Boob babes" Ha Ha!!!
........LOL...........
She said that is what she nicknamed all of us. I thought it was cute

I hope you all do too. Jen

Very Cute !!!

My son is my strength and determination to get well again

Without my son and the woman in this group
I would have given up long ago

I have been plastered to my bed most of the day and night
because my heart is still beating rapidly and today its really bad

Saline implants have left me crippled and fatigue 24/7
Sad how we all have to suffer and find our own answers

Just wish I had strength and the money to see Dr. Kolb
At this point I am to scared to be hacked by a surgeon

I rather take my own chances than let someone who does not
have the expertise in implant rejection

I would feel better to know that the surgeon knows
I am very sick from my capsules and all the crap

I am not sure a Cancer doctor will have that expertise
I am in a mess right now with these capsules

Hi Linda,

What you are describing was one of my first symptoms, the awful leg
pains in the night and muscle twitching, and the shooting pains
throughout my body. I didn't sleep much the entire 6 months I had
the implants (I had them removed after six months). You know your
body and I think you are wise to listen to your instincts. You are
right - your plastic surgeon will probably tell you "it's not the
implants" and might suggest that you seek counseling, we've all
heard it ourselves, but in the end I knew my problems were implant
related and I had them removed. I'm much better since I've been
explanted, and I look great. I used Dr. Feng in Ohio, although
there are other doctors that we've used that come highly
recommended. If you do decide to use your original surgeon, insist
that he/she remove the capsules and make them sign a paper attesting
to that fact.

Robbyn,

I'm glad you've found this site. I had my implants for six months
and started having health problems within a few weeks. I had daily
migraines, joint swelling, numb fingers and toes, muscle aches,
brain fog, high blood pressure, nausea, shakiness, fatigue, anxiety,
panic attacks - it just seemed like I had new symptoms all the
time.

If you do have your implants removed, insist that the doctor use the
en bloc procedure and remove the capsule in it's entirety. I
decided to use Dr. Feng in Cleveland, Ohio, because she believes in
implant illness and I knew I could trust her to remove the
capsules. She did a beautiful job with my explant and I look
great. I never regretted having the implants removed. I just
wanted my body back. My health has improved considerably since
explant, although I do sometimes have setbacks, I am much much
better than I was with implants.

Your new husband loves you, and therefore he will love you without
implants. I think he'd be much happier to see you in good health.

I live in Colorado.

Thank you so much for your help.

PS... I am going to an orthopedic doctor tomorrow to have my hip
looked at. I am thinking it is bursitis? It has hurt for over a
year and tests reveal nothing. Should I mention the implants to the
specialist?

Where are you?

We do have a list on this site of plastic
surgeons who remove implants properly.

No, it does not seem to matter how long you have
implants. Some women react immediately, some do not react for many years.

Hi Bindi,

How long did you have your implants? Does it matter?

Any advice on where I can find a doctor who agrees that the implants
are causing problems?

You need to get the implants removed first, though. Your health has
no chance until you do that. We've all been through this-- I know how
hard it is. But many of us have recovered our lives and are healthy
again. Don't lose hope! You'll get better. just start researching and
planning how you will do it, and get those puppies out!

How long did you have your implants in? Does it matter how long?

Any advice on where to find a doctor who will agree to remove them
and one who believes they are causing a problem?

-Linda,
All I can say right now to you dear girl is you are not alone in
this, and we will help you anyway we can, I know how difficult it is
to take care of children when you become sick. I got sick when my
daughter was 2 months old.It took me ten years to figure it out, So
at least you are aware much sooner and you shouldn't have long
suffering, I have those muscle twitches and spasms but they are
almost gone since explant. We just had someone go through explant
after only 5 weeks of having implants so yes it can happen that
quickly, Please try not to panic and not stree as that will make you
feel worse, you are very lucky that you found this group so early on,
I really mean that I suffered for ten years before any help and about
50 Dr.s, You are on the right track. I was a centerfold and thought I
couldn't have explant surgery and was scared to death but you know
what it all turned out fine. I am still dealing with auto immune
illness now but I got my memory back and my brain fog completely went
away, so there is hope. We wil help you get through this,
Goodbye for now

After reading Beth's story, which I found on Google, I was just so
sad. I do went to get them out, right now, today, ASAP!!

I am 34 but my body feels like I am 84! Any advice on a doctor I
should see? Is there any financial support? I don't know that I can
afford it but my health is too important - I want to get it done.

Any advice would be appreciated. I am so scared that I have ruined
myself for life. I want to feel like my old self again.

My doctors have put me on anti-depressants and anti-anxiety
medications but they have never mentioned it could be because of my
implants. They have no reason as to why I all the sudden became
depressed (no family history).

Please give me hope that if I get these out soon that I can recover.

Oh, I feel so bad for Gretchen. I hope someone in her family called
Dr. Kolb to let her know what's happening. Her parents have got to
be terribly upset with all of this, too. I pray that she'll get her
health back soon.

This morning I was venting to my husband about my implanting plastic
surgeon, and how I hope that he is eternally haunted by those of us
who he hurt. My husband said "it's not his fault, he didn't force
you to go to his office, they still have alcohol and cigarettes
available even though people become addicted". Just when I think my
husband "gets it", I realize he doesn't. Anyway, I said to him "the
difference here is that everyone knows the risks involved when you
drink or smoke - with implants we are not told that they can destroy
our health. If I knew all of this would happen, I never would have
gotten them. I chose not to smoke or drink because I value my
health, but the doctor looked me in the eye and told me implants
were safe". I just can't believe after all we've been through
because of implants that he would even say such a ridiculous thing.
I then said "what if there was a car that we bought, and the
manufacturer knew that 10% of those cars would just randomly
explode, but they didn't tell the consumers. How would you feel if
I bought one of those cars and it exploded, and the manufacturer
knew about it and just didn't bother to tell anyone?".

She is ok, but can't remember her passwords to get into the site...
I told her to not worry we would all keep her in our prayers and get
some rest.... The password will come back to her sometime soon.....
She needs to rest! Thank God she is OK.... She sounded better
somewhat but lost and confused... Barely remembering anything....
How sad implants did this another young lady..

hi Linda,
You have come to the right place. I made my discovery by "googling"
as well. See my thank you note to Beth that I posted a few minutes
ago. Actually, if you check the google site and find her story it
was a pretty quick reaction to saline implants . The women here are
a wealth of information and recommendations.

I can tell you that many women have felt the same way that you
do. But, there is hope, because removing your implants can help you
to recover.

Beth,
What a concidence to *see* you here on this message board. My name is
Marsha, I emailed you about a year and a half ago when I came across
you story online. I was having major muscle twitches while I was
watching the Jerry Lewis telethon and totally freaking out....thinking
I had ALS or something. On a whim I googled "breast implants and
muscle twitches" and found your story and your recommendation for Dr
Kolb. We never got to meet but you worked right down the street from
where I live in Alpharetta and we spoke on the phone a few times. It
has been a long road and 3 surgeries...muscle twitches are 90% gone
and I am feeling better. I could be more diligent with the
supplements but I get so tired of taking pills. I remember your
suggesting the infrared saunas...I am looking to purchase one as
well. Anyway, I just wanted to say "thank you" for your consult back
then and I hope you are doing well. Did you say you moved?
Keep in touch.
Marsha

I have been feeling just horrible for about 3 months straight now. Had
my implants put in 1999 (saline, through the belly button). My docs
have ran tons of tests and the most they can tell me is that my ANA
level in elevated. They ruled out Lupus & RA.

I am just devasted after reading testimonials and stories related to
what the implants can cause!!!

I am so sad. Feel like I have ruined my entire life.

Sandra,

That is the correct site...  You can take a free written test also on that site.... or the VCS test, I think it is around $8.00 or $10.00, I forget.... I did the written test and failed so badly just left it at that..... Took the VCS Test at Dr. Kolb's office.....

Hello Ladies!

My name is Linda. I am a 36-year old mother of four. Five weeks ago, I
underwent surgery for mastopexy, sub-pectoral implants (smooth saline
moderate profile by Mentor) from barely-B to a C cup, an umbilical
hernia repair and a partial abdominoplasty where only skin was removed.

On my third night post surgery, I had the sensation of falling off
into a deep sleep (almost passing out) and then my whole body would
jerk, waking me instantly. All night. I felt somehow that the jerking
awake was my body's way of saving me from dying during that night. I
blamed it on the meds.

I switched to Tylenol PM for the night (Tylenol during the day) and I
didn't notice much during the nights for the next week. On the 10th
night post-surgery (the very first time I went to sleep with no
medicine), I awakened with a strong muscle twitch in my right tricep.
100 beats a minute. You could see it. Others could feel it when they
touched it. I was unable to go back to sleep until the morning AFTER
taking a Tylenol PM again. It lasted over 24 hours.

As this odd symptom subsided during the 11th night, all of a sudden,
little tiny painless muscle twitches began to occur all throughout my
entire body, from my face to my toes. Occasionally, a big one would
seem to vibrate from my entire heart or my entire left or entire right
breast. At this point, I blamed it on the Phenergen medicine
prescribed for nausea post-surgery, which I later found out that I
used too long and the side effects listed are "unusual and
uncontrollable muscle twitches".

To date, the twitches are exactly the same. I dread going to sleep
every night because I don't know how long I will be tormented with the
inability to sleep....or whether I will experience strong enough
muscle spasms that wake me with a disturbing start. For the first time
in a few weeks, I took Tylenol PM again last night. I actually slept
fairly peacefully. The three weeks prior, I relied on Valerian root,
or even wine -- but I guess that stopped working. Prior to surgery,
sleep problems were very rare, and never to this extent.

By now, I have scoured the Internet for hours, realizing how unlikely
it is that I would have something like MS, MD, ALS or Parkinson's. I
was in perfect health pre-surgery. It HAD to be something related to
the surgery.

Two days ago, on a whim, I Googled "saline implant side effects" and
somewhere in that search I happened across your group. Halleluia! I
had found others with my same symptoms. I would rather have the
diagnosis and live with the disappointment I surely face (loss of the
glorious boobs I just purchased), then to allow my body to deteriorate.

I am just so thankful I found your site. My gut is telling me that it
is my implants, whether it be due to the "loss of zone of apposition
leading to hyperinflation" that I read about in a recent link -- or,
simply because of the implant itself.

I am absolutely certain when I return to see my surgeon on March 13th
that he will think I'm insane for blaming the saline implants --
though I plan to come armed with as much info as I could print out. He
is an extremely reputable PS out of Duke Hospital in Durham,
NC.......but when I mentioned my symptoms at two weeks out, he said he
had never heard of such complaints.

Here's where I am seeking some advice (and I invite you to share any
similar stories -- certainly I could not follow all links going back
to 2000!): I have also scheduled myself a visit to my primary care
doctor on March 5th. Do you have any opinions as to whether I am
wasting my time, money and energy? Or, are there some selective tests
that a GP doc could likely run that I might want to have on hand -- to
compare to after explant?

I have already seen the tests that are suggested in your FAQ link for
a rheumatologist to administer. I just don't know that I have the
energy for that much......unless there is compelling reason to do so
(i.e. a class action lawsuit in the future, or whatever). I am also
very concerned about having my medical woes go on file at the GP. It
wasn't until I began this research that I found information stating
that your health insurance can JUST DENY YOU COVERAGE? Even the
FDA.gov site says it somewhere. How is THAT fair? So....if you make a
personal decision to go rollerskating (which we understand insurance
will not pay for) and break a leg in the process, they won't pay to
help you fix it......because you CHOSE to go rollerskating? Of course
not! I just don't get it. How can they NOT cover explant? Is it
because it cannot be proven definitively? Maybe someone can clue me in
as to what rights I might have.

Anyhow, even if I have no rights, I am prepared to fix this mess
myself, just as I was prepared to pay the first go-around. Money ends
up meaning nothing when your health/life is at stake! Of course, it's
just too bad I'll have to borrow the money. Why in the world are
explants so darned expensive, compared to implants/mastopexy???

Also, in your years of being members of this group, have there been
others who have explanted shortly after implant NOT due to obvious
rupture? If so, how soon after? I consider myself VERY lucky that I
can pinpoint the start of my very acute symptoms to be DIRECTLY after
surgery. Basically, I think it's a waste of time to explore any other
possibility.

Before I forget, I used to have very uncomfortable gastrointestinal
issues until I cut out all grains about six months ago. My body just
couldn't process then. Like a miracle, all was suberb, and I suffered
NO problems. In the past week, however, my gas problems have
resurfaced despite no change in diet (grains). The only thing
different is that I have added a high-quality multi-vitamin and
magnesium pills into my diet. Have any of you had these types of
problems surface out of the blue?

Finally, thank you to all of you for taking time to read this long
note. I'm sorry for all the rambling. I welcome all words of advice,
insight and encouragement. I am so completely obsessed with this right
now that I am having trouble focusing on my children. Never mind the
ACE Personal Trainer exam I am supposed to be studying for! Mental
retention right now is about 10%. My husband thinks I'm rushing too
quickly into this self-diagnosis, and I would LOVE for him to be wrong
as I love the look of my implanted chest. I'm already mourning the
loss of being able to enjoy new bathing suits at the pool this summer.
But when he or any doctor, or any other research on the internet can't
provide me with an answer as to what IS causing my strange symptoms
.......what are my choices??

God bless you all,

Linda

P.S. I don't suppose there is anyone out there who can assure me that
she had the exact same symptoms as I am having for x weeks/months
post-surgery, and then it all went away and she has been living
happily ever after since? :)

Lynda,
Yes this is where I took the test. As I recall, you have to answer
some questions first...then the vision test pops up. It really was
quite interesting for me. And I felt that consider Dr. Shoemakers
background in neurotoxins and the fact Dr. Kolb mentions him...it
was a good indicator...without having to travel to a doctor .

Lynda,
I think it was here:
www.chronicneurotoxins.com

I am trying to double check that this was the site I used. It was 9
to 10 months ago. There was a charge, as I recall.
They suggested you take this online test..to determine if you need
further testing. I didn't....not according to the Visual Test.

It is all sorts of squiggly lines and as they change direction, you
answer questions...

The new implants (if that's what they were, won't leak . .. they may deteriorate .  . macrophages may take it apart bit by bit, but you can cut them with a knife and not get a spill. . .

This doesn't stop the macrophages from slowly distributing the chemicals throughout the body  . . but she didn't have them long enough to exerience the kind of readtion she had.
