Subject: EMedHome Question of the Day

The EMedHome Question of the Day is:

True or False: The ST-segment elevation associated with acute pericarditis is associated with reciprocal ST changes?

Scroll Down for the Answer

The Answer is:

True. The earliest EKG manifestations are most characteristic of pericarditis and are characterized by diffuse ST-segment elevation (almost always observed in V4–V6 and lead II) with reciprocal changes in aVR and V1 (JEM, In Press, Online 9/9/08).
