I wanted to suggest to everyone wanting to pursue a career in
emergency medicine to think about joining professional organizations.
Each one accepts students and it looks great on a resume plus you can
stay on top of the new developments and stories in emergency medicine.

Here are some suggestions:

1) Emergency Medicine Residents' Association (EMRA):
http://www.emra.org/EMRAmemberapp/default.aspx

2) American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP):
https://www.acep.org/MemberApp/

3) American Academy of Emergency Medicine/Resident Students
Association (AAEM/RSA):
https://ssl18.pair.com/aaemorg/membership/application_residentstudent.php

The first 2 are the big ones. The 3rd is free for 1 year to medical
students. Some come with online subscriptions to some cool resources
as well as journals that can be mailed to you such as the Journal of
Emergency Medicine and Annals of Emergency Medicine. One resident I
spoke to was asked during her interview what was the last journal
article she read. So, food for thought.

Good luck and, again for the 3rd years, START LOOKING INTO ELECTIVES
NOW! Any questions feel free to email me or call me at 917.514.8740.

Glenn
