Subject: [Sackler911] Introduction

Hey Everyone,

Sorry that I have not done this sooner, but I wanted to introduce myself as the new Sackler911 Moderator and Co-Leader with Glenn Skow doing his rotations in the States.  With that said, I'm Jared Friedman, a 3rd year Sackler.  I am currently doing my Internal Medicine rotation at Beilinson in Petach Tikva.

Anyway, I want to bring some enthusiasm and participation to this group, so here I go:
1) I want to continue Glenn's great idea of a weekly case presentation and discussion, so I hope to make time for this.  So, please don't forget to vote by 12am Friday morning.
2) I want to compile a list of 4th year (and already graduated) students (with contact information) completing an Emergency Medicine rotation in the States in order to get some positives/negatives of this specialty and on the respective programs, as well as some fascinating experiences or stories.
3) I want to try and set up a day/time that underclassmen (1st and 2nd years) can observe in the Emergency Department so give them a more "realistic" idea of what this specialty is really about.
4) I want to help set-up a lecture with hands-on experience for introducing underclassmen (1st and 2nd years) to the importance of the "ABC's" or other simple "emergency" techniques that can be done in a split second (ie bandaging/splints, heimlich maneuver, etc).

Other possible ideas (PLEASE GIVE INPUT):
1) Monthly journal meeting of latest clinical study in Emergency Medicine?
2) Weekly/monthly volunteering in a local health clinic in Tel Aviv?
3) ANY OTHERS?!?!

Hope school/hospitals are going well and please be in touch if there is anything that I (and Sackler911) can do to make this Interest Group better than it already is.  Give me your ideas...and participate - this group is only as good as WE make it.

Best,
Jared
