I have some good news. It looks like we will be able
to start shadowing the ER staff at the Ichilov (Tel Aviv Sourarsky Medical
Center) ER. Some important details:
1) We
will be rotating with the Surgery B department which works every 2nd
day/night. (I will get an exact schedule to sign up for where you will be
able to choose the hours of the day and which day)
2) If
you choose to go during a shift you cannot miss class to do so (as per Dean
Shenkman)
3) You
will need white coats (and a stethoscope would be helpful although not vital)
4) Most
of your time there will be observing, but the residents are often eager to
teach so take advantage of this if you would like
5) The
ER at ichilov is divided into medical and surgical ERs. As we will be
with the surgical side, this will include traumas and other surgical emergencies
which are usually more urgent and more interesting (my opinion).
6) Ideally,
I would like to see groups of 2, although if there is a large demand, we may
have to do groups of 3. If you don’t speak Hebrew, you may want to
consider pairing with someone who does speak Hebrew. Again, not vital, but
certainly helpful. Browse the members list and start thinking of who you
would like to pair with. It would be helpful to pair up by our meeting when I
can collect a final list.
7) I
should have a schedule from the surgery department before the holiday.

P.S. I am hoping for a meeting either this Friday or Saturday,
but am still waiting on the 4th years on when they can come.
