Well, it's probably not going to hurt to get an updated poll here. Chime in and tell us what you've got.
South Carolina has one Type I US&R task force (SC-TF1) and four Type II collapse rescue teams (Regional Response Teams 1, 2, 3, and 4)

Does anyone have an idea of how many SUSAR teams are in existence today? Total for the nation? Total by each state?

I spoke with an ER physician today about getting some medical protocols set in
place for GA TF 5. I wonder how that that works when crossing state lines for
deployments. Do Team medical protocols established locally, cover Team members
who deploy elsewhere? How do other State Teams cover themselves for Medical
issues?

This past week we had the distinct pleasure to
work with both SUSAR Teams from the State of Indiana and FEMA IN-TF1. Due to
our FEMA involvement we were asked to deliver the first SCT Instructor Trainer
using the brand new FEMA SCT Curriculum that we were contracted to update for
the FEMA system this year. I would like to say that the members of both of
these organizations were second to none and represent their respective teams in
an extremely positive and professional manner. The course was done in its
entirety without the elimination of any skill or competency. It is very
refreshing to see not only Federal and State Teams working side by side but it
is also very impressive that they both wanted to do it right without shortcuts.
I know many of them often monitor this group and I would like to say it was a
pleasure to meet and work with all of you all week long. Again thanks for a
great week in Indy and look forward to staying in touch. If any other teams
would like to implement the SCT Instructor course for your state or would like
to attend any of the open enrollment courses please either email me off line or
visit our web site at www.safetysolutions.us
Again thanks for having us and hat off to the Indiana Fire Chiefs for doing it
right!

Hi Chris - I have never heard of this group, however, they are using scent specific dogs for trailing which we would have no use for with collapsed structure. If we ever were to need scent specific trailing dogs in the future for anything there are three or more of us on the ILTF K9 team that have certified trailing dogs. I am also on a wilderness team that runs out of McHenry County Sheriffs Office where we could access at least 10 more dogs should we ever need them. Hope this helps. Carol Davis Red Team K9

The canine Sub-Committee will be contacting SUSAR team canine contacts in the
next week to obtain and update handler information for all SUSAR teams. Please
assist them with the information they will need.
They will be asking for:
The number of handlers on your team.
The number of evaluators on your team, including shadows.
The number of certified canines on your team, and their certification levels.
The CSC rep for your region will be there to assist you with any canine needs.
Please utilize this resource.

This was sent to our MABAS Division Yahoo Group requesting to be a member. I thought some time ago I had seen discussion about an outfit like this. Can anyone give me information about this company?

Hello-
My name is Skylar Lyon. I am the co founder of the
American Mantrailing Academy . We are an
organization out of Indiana that helps in the all around advancement of Search and Rescue teams. We do this
mainly through training in the areas or trailing, scouting, tracking, and team
building. We would like to offer our services to any emergency personnel who
may be interested. There is no more important concern than safety and no task
more noble that restoring safety. Through their careers the members of the
American
Mantrailing Academy have strived to do just that. We are now at a point where we would like to help
train others how do so. The more people who are trained and the better training
those who are trained receive the safer we all are. Once again we would like to
offer our services to anyone interested in this group.
Sincerely,
Skylar Lyon

We are trying to get IFSAC Accreditation for our trench program and keep from
re-inventing the wheel. We are using "Trench Rescue" Second Edition by Buddy
Martinette.
I was wondering if any of you have submitted the program to IFSAC and completed
the Test Bank information as IFSAC requires it, along with the other
information.
If anyone has any information on this subject I would greatly appreciate the
help. You can e-mail me at the address below or call me on the matter.
Thank You
