I spoke with an ER physician today about getting some medical protocols set in
place for GA TF 5.  I wonder how that that works when crossing state lines for
deployments.  Do Team medical protocols established locally, cover Team members
who deploy elsewhere?  How do other State Teams cover themselves for Medical
issues?

This past week we had the distinct pleasure to work with both SUSAR Teams from
the State of Indiana and FEMA IN-TF1. Due to our FEMA involvement we were asked
to deliver the first SCT Instructor Trainer using the brand new FEMA SCT
Curriculum that we were contracted to update for the FEMA system this year. I
would like to say that the members of both of these organizations were second to
none and represent their respective teams in an extremely positive and
professional manner. The course was done in its entirety without the elimination
of any skill or competency. It is very refreshing to see not only Federal and
State Teams working side by side but it is also very impressive that they both
wanted to do it right without shortcuts.

I know many of them often monitor this group and I would like to say it was a
pleasure to meet and work with all of you all week long. Again thanks for a
great week in Indy and look forward to staying in touch. If any other teams
would like to implement the SCT Instructor course for your state or would like
to attend any of the open enrollment courses please either email me off line or

Again thanks for having us and hat off to the Indiana Fire Chiefs for doing it

On the FEMA website they have a FOG dated September 2003 and an Operations
Manual dated January 2000.  Are there newer versions of these documents
available anywhere?

The canine Sub-Committee will be contacting SUSAR team canine contacts in the
next week to obtain and update handler information for all SUSAR teams. Please
assist them with the information they will need.

They will be asking for:
The number of handlers on your team.
The number of evaluators on your team, including shadows.
The number of certified canines on your team, and their certification levels.

The CSC rep for your region will be there to assist you with any canine needs.
Please utilize this resource.

Does anyone have a generic public information PowerPoint for USAR operations or
responses to collapse or major emergency.  Something that would be appropriate
for a civilian audience or explorer group.

re-inventing the wheel. We are using "Trench Rescue" Second Edition by Buddy
Martinette.
I was wondering if any of you have submitted the program to IFSAC and completed
the Test Bank information as IFSAC requires it, along with the other
information.
