There is at least one listener who is engaged in teaching about spirituality to
family practice residents. Would love to come to Wyoming in a couple of weeks
but can't get away. It does sound like a great conference. One thing which I
have observed is that I could make a profession of attending conferences on
spirituality and medicine if I could fine a sponsor for my travel. I also find
that there is information coming to me from a number of sources. One of
interest is the listserv maintained by the Park Ridge Center. It deals with
spirituality and medicine and generates several messages a day. It does not
regularly deal with pedagogy issues for family medicine programs, though. I'm
not sure how to deal with the overlap of commitments and the limits of time.
Several of the meetings I attend have sections dealing with spirituality and
medicine, so I am able to keep up. We certainly need to have an ongoing section
at STFM meetings, which I can get to every couple of years. I would be for
maintaining the list for those occasions when important news for family medicine
educators arises. At the same time we should participate in other forums in
which the larger issues are being addressed.
