Greetings
At Oregon Health Sciences University we have been involved in developing a
curriculum in
Medicine and Spirituality for about four years.
We have components in the core curriculum, as well as an elective for both
medical students
and residents.
We have also had a lunch-time lecture series.
Now we are looking at the possibility of weaving together some of the standard
approaches to this issue
with Mind/Body skills, and Mind/Body skills training (ala James Gordon)
Has anyone else begun work along this line?
We would be intresting in hearing about how you have proceeded.
Actually we would be intrested in any thoughts you might have on how these two
things go together. We believe it is a natural combination integration, but
also realize there may
be some problems with respect to religions that conisder some Mind/Body
techniques to be
"outside" the pale, etc.
Thanks
Stephen Kliewer
PS. We will be doing a seminar at STFM on "normalizing" medicine and
spirituality in the curriculum. See you there.
