GRANT FUNDED FACULTY TRAINING IN ADDICTION MEDICINE
Since 1949, Hazelden has been a pioneering leader in the care of chemically
dependent people and their families. It is internationally recognized for
its broad spectrum of interrelated services and continuum of care. Its
mission is to help build recovery in the lives of individuals, families and
communities affected by alcoholism, drug dependency and related diseases.
Jointly sponsored by the University of Wisconsin Medical School, the
Faculty Training Program on Addiction for Primary Care Physicians, offered
at no cost to the participant by Hazelden New York and Hanley-Hazelden,
integrates core competencies of addiction medicine as identified by the
professional medical community, into medical curricula and training. This
educational opportunity combines the dynamic experiential and didactic
components of Hazelden New York's successful Physicians in Residence program
with specific activities devoted to academic development. Richard L. Brown,
MD, MPH, Associate Professor, Department of Family Medicine, University of
Wisconsin Medical School and Past President, AMERSA, serves as lecturer and
the program's Educational Director.
