Hi. My name is Amber and I work at the Salt Lake Valley Health
Department. Tyler from UAf forwarded your e-mail to me regarding
writing to a young man I am working with in jail. Here is a little bit
of his background information. He just turned 24 years old. He is
having somewhat of a difficult time. He just tested positive for HIV a
few months ago while in jail. He is serving a year jail sentence as a
result of Meth addiction. He is really sweet and trying hard to make
being in jail as much of a positive experience as possible. He would
like a pen pal very much. He doesn't have any supportive people in his
life other than me. They don't have computers in jail so you will have
to send letters via the post office. This is how we can set it up so I
don't break confidentiality. You would write a letter giving him your
information and give it to me. I will then address it to him and he
can write you back with his information. You can hand write or e-mail
me the letter, whatever you prefer. You can call me on my cell phone
at 949-0993 if you want.
[One of our group members has graciously offered to write already, but
I'm sure that this guy wouldn't mind more letters. It's something we
could do to really help out a guy in need!! Thanks, Jon]
