Hello to all and welcome to SIN. I'm the founder of SIN and its
crazy lead organizer, based in Los Angeles. SIN Salt Lake is just
getting off the ground but hopefully it will be helpful to you and
other poz guys in that area for social support and providing valuable
information on local HIV resources and events.

If you hear of any such events, like a workshop or seminar on HIV-
related issues, please feel free to post a message to the group or
add it to the group's Calendar section. Also feel free to post
messges suggesting group outings for coffee, movies, concerts,
sporting events, or just an afternoon of some plain old fashioned boy
watching!

This month, SIN celebrates its second year! It all started with a
simple little potluck for single poz guys in the Hollywood Hills, and
now look at what we've gone and done. There almost 1500 guys on the
SIN network today and chapters of SIN in over 20 cities around the
world.

We've formed into an official non-profit corporation and are working
on raising funds to develop and launch our own Web-based system to
replace Yahoo Groups and offer better communication and information
applications to our subscribers. This summer SIN had teamed up with
Healing Waters (http://www.hwaters.org), a non-profit based in San
Francisco, to organize white water rafting trips for $25 for groups
of SIN members on the beautiful and exciting American River near
Sacramento, famous as the first gold rush location in California.
SIN is working to plan similar adventure trips for poz men all over
the world.

SIN has become an excellent way for poz men just like you to build
friendships, enjoy fun group events and share important information
and experiences related to HIV and other issues. And best of all,
SIN is expanding around the world helping HIV+ gay men connect
everywhere and bringing a sense of support and community to guys in
cities and countries where they have few services or other HIV+
organizations. SIN is also becoming an excellent free method for
independent poz social groups to promote their activities and attract
more members.

So look for our new SIN Web site coming soon and start spreading the
SIN, I meant the word, about SIN! Please tell your friends about
SIN, post links to it on Web lists, and mention it to HIV-related
service organizations in your area. Thanks for becoming part of a
great new movement for HIV+ gay men and a really fun one at that!
