Hi,
I'm new to veganism, and am looking for fellowship and support from
other vegans/vegetarians in San Antonio. I am really trying to change
my lifestyle and eating habits because I have health problems.
I would appreciate any hints and suggestions on making this transition.
Thanks,
Rose C
Hi, I just discovered this group and joined. I'm female, 50 years old,
married and have five cats and a rabbit but no human children. I
currently live in Uvalde and I'm a vegetarian, trying to be vegan but
succumbing to some dairy. My DH is looking for a teaching job in San
Antonio; he's certified for Math, Science and Computers at the junior
high and high school level. So we will probably be moving to SA this
summer or fall. He wants to commute all 90+ miles from Uvalde to the
SA city limit plus however far it'd be to his school but I say he's
crazy! I think he'll come to that conclusion very fast. ;-) I
currently visit Whole Foods (I like it better than Central Market) for
my vegetarian staples that I can't get here (anything other than common
beans, grains, soymilk and tofu.) I'm looking forward to talking to
other veggies in San Antonio.
We've been several times. Each time we have tried something new and
LOVED it. And while looking at the menu we are already planning out
next visit. Friends love it too. The wheat meat steak fingers are
down home comfort food at it's best. The sweet potato fries rock.
The classic veggie sandwich is delish. The grilled cheese with
tomato and basil is amazing. Highly reccomend!

Hi, I am very happy to know that the Green will be open soon. I do think everyone should know that San Antonio has had another very fine vegetarian eatery. The Greenwood was a wonderful vegetarian restaurant here in the 70's. I have fond memories of eating and working there. It is great to have another Green restaurant coming soon! Chris Harlan >

Welcome to San Antonio! It's great to see the number of veggie people increasing---we're a definite minority here. Look forward to meeting you sometime after you move here.

Welcome to San Antonio, Donna. I've been in San Antonio all my life, but I am new to the
vegetarian life and new to this group.
My name is Carolyn and I am looking to start a business, possibly a non-profit, which will be focusing on alternative health choices, including vegetarianism of course. I would like to especially work with children in fun and interesting ways in an attempt to address the childhood obesity and diabetes epidemic. I am planning to use puppets, storytelling, coloring contests, etc. to promote interest and hopefully make an impact in this crisis situation we are currently seeing. I also plan to promote increased physical activity in fun and interesting ways.
I am looking to link up with like-minded individuals and businesses in the San Antonio area.. If you or someone you know is interested in this topic, please let me know! I have lost about 45 pounds in the past few years by developing a healthy lifestyle myself.

I’m
new to San Antonio, just moved here after a few years in Austin and hoping to meet other vegetarians in town.I was a vegetarian for 8 years previously,
and in the last year and a half have become vegetarian/vegan again. I aim for veganism…
I’m about 90% there these days.I’m also very dedicated to yoga, so anyone who has any good tips
about SA in the regard – please share!Looking forward to getting to know
everyone and joining the group for the next event!
Donna
Your daily life is your temple and your religion. When you enter into it
take with you your all.
Hello everyone. I'm a teenage vegan from SA! There aren't a lot of
veg*ns around, especially my age, so I look foward to being able to
meet fellow veggies throug this group. :)
Just wanted to say hi. I was about to give up on finding anyone in San
Antonio. I am vegetarian but not vegan. Although in the process of
getting there. I would love to trade some recipes if you guys do
that. Also would love info on best places to shop etc for vegetarian
and organics.
Thanks
Much to owner, Mike's frustration, it is now due to open in September! But he's all over it and even has a website up! See the next SAVS E mail for more details.

For the 4th time I've come home thinking I've bought something vegan and, after diving into it, found out it's not. This time it's Veggy singles, which say they are "lactos eand gluten free" but which have casein listed in the ingredients. Same with the Lisanatti Premium Soy- sation shredded mozzarella style cheese alternative I purchased. Is there a good cheese alternative that does NOT contain casein??? Dzng. There oughtta be a law, don't you think?
