San Antonio now has a vegan Meet-Up group! Franklin is the
moderator, and when I invited them to join our 20 year old group, he
asked me why I was always trying to "take his members" LOL! Anyway,
they are a young group and are doing some exciting and fun vegan
things in San Antonio. Send an E mail to cheatcountry@... to
be added to their Meet-Up group E mail list. Especially if you're
young and cool, unlike me.

From V.O.
VeganOutreach forwarded me your contact information. If you are
interested in helping me leaflet colleges as part of Adopt A College
(www.veganhealth.org/colleges - amazing results and statistics, save
tens of 1,000's of animals in hours) in many of YOUR regions that
would be nice, see my schedule below. Feel free to ask me any
questions and reply if you are interested at all, even if only on
future occasions.

You can gain experience, see first hand how simple and effective
leafleting by the 1,000's is and hopefully continue to do so on your
own in the future ~ since many of these colleges have lots of
students that will be missed on these brief trips.
San Antonio Regions: (Mon-Thurs) Early October?
Mon-Tues - UTSA - Need a Student Present
Weds - San Antonio College

Thanks for your help, especially with UTSA and UT Arlington students
that are much needed! Also I hope that you will consider leafleting
in the future on your own and report back to VO (Why Vegan & EI
booklets can be obtained basically for free if necessary) to save me
future trips and personal travel expenses, since it is a strain
covering most of the state, when I also work full time at an Airport,
Thurs - Sunday 3pm-3am and also take time off to cover our areas.

We do live in an area that is one of the best in the country for many
larger college leafleting opportunities so should take advantage of
it.

Our States links (save/favorite):
www.veganhealth.org/colleges/state/TX and for full time student
enrollments www.infoplease.com/edu/colleges/TX.html (its good to
cover at least 15% of the students per year)

Thanks,

Casey Constable

*Email me at least a few days before the trip to your area starts.
*I will bring the booklets.

NEW LEGAL TREATISE ON RACEHORSING
The Animal Legal and Historical Center of Michigan State University
College of Law has recently published That's the Breaks: Trainer
Responsibility for Racehorse Breakdowns in New York, authored by
Cynthia F. Hodges, MA, JD, a member of the State Bar of Texas Animal
Law Section (http://animallaw.info/topics/spusracehorsetrainer.htm )

Hodges argues that trainers in New York should be prosecuted for
cruelty when racehorses break down. Interestingly, a similar
argument might be made for Texas racehorsing, as Texas Penal Code
Sec. 42.09(a)(9) provides that a person commits an offense when
he "seriously overworks" a horse.
