Hi everyone,
I talked to Kim today and we were shooting for a 10AM meeting. It
sounds like this will work for most folks.
As for Ren not being there, I emailed her today (no response yet)
about having a meeting sometime before August 14 to get her
thoughts. This was Kim's idea actually, and seems like a good one.
I asked Ren for some dates that work for her and will circulate
those around so that anyone locally who wants to go to that one can
let me know which of those dates will work for them.
As for the Agenda on the 14th, I think we need to finalize the
specifics of the award, how it will be awarded, and the process for
determining recipients. Also, discuss any future fundraising to
increase the award principle. One thought I had, since we already
surpassed our initial goal, is to give out 4% annually to the award
recipients and 1% goes back into the principle. That way, we
continually grow the award even without asking people for money
again. Finally, I think we should think about how we want the
display to look like in Fraser. Ren and Kim had talked about a
plaque and info about Lisa and her life and the award and the
donors. One idea I had, being a geographer, was that the donors
would be listed by hometown, in addition to by name. We could even
have a map showing where all the donors are from. I think Lisa
would have loved it and plus it shows the wide distribution of
people who's lives she touched.
Anyway, that's how things are shaping up for the 14th.
Jason
Unfortunately, I will not be able to
attend on the 14th due to work conflicts. Please toss back a Blue
at the Idle in Lisa’s honor for me.

August 14 Meeting
Perfect timing! I was just wondering about meeting
specifics so I
could go ahead and secure my travel plans. I would prefer a morning
meeting so I could try to fly out later that afternoon, but again,
since my plans are no concrete yet I can be flexible. Definitely a
bummer about Ren; I was really hoping to have the opportunity to see
her again.
Onto another topic, what is the status of the thank you cards?
Thanks all, I hope you are enjoying the summer too!
We can't proceed with the thank you cards without the logo on some sort of digital media for the printers. I had asked for this previously but have yet to get it. I would imagine Missy has it but I think she is at camp now. Missy, are you?
As soon as I get that, the cards can be done in a matter of a few days.
What is the agenda for the Aug 14 meeting?

Thanks for organizing Jason.
Earlier in the day works best for me as well.
I can still make it Aug 14, but I am not opposed to rescheduling if it's
important for Ren to be there.

All,
I added a new file to the group, incorporating thoughts from this past
email string. I am such a visual learner, I thought this might help.
Jen P - I am happy to send money for you to place the order.
-C
I've posted an updated file to the yahoo group. I think the easiest
thing to do is for everyone to email me (nortonj@...) with the
names you want to 'sign up' for and I'll update the file as needed.
Thanks,
Jenn
Gotcha...that sounds good.
I still think somewhere (cover, inside, wherever) we should have
printed something like "Lisa Kuligowski Memorial Fund at SUNY
Geneseo." It could even go over our names or something.

The way I was thinking it would work would be that the person who was writing the thank you would write their name and our organization...that way friends and family members would make the connection.
I priced Kinko's today and they were insanely pricey...the place near my house seems to be the cheapest I have seen.
I'm not sure I understand the "Laura Ebertz and the Friends of Lisa
Kuligowski" signature. Does that mean we would have to get 10
different versions printed, each with our respective names on it?
I really like the existing template that's posted on this site. My
only suggestion would be to insert something in there, maybe on the
front under the logo, something like: "Lisa Kuligowski Memorial Fund
at SUNY Geneseo" It could be small, but just a little explanation
for folks who may not immediately connect "Love in Lisa" to what
they wrote a check for months ago now. Maybe it could go on the
inside with our names or something.
As for the May donor list, no, I have not gotten anything yet.
Cheers,
Jason

I like the template for the Thank you notes that is posted on the yahoo
group site. When I saw this version, I thought our names ended up on the
back side of the card, with the in fold of the card completely blank for
our note, but I'm craft challenged...
I don't have a strong opinion either way about whether to include all
the names, so I'm fine with whatever is decided.
I uploaded the excel file to the yahoo group site (it should be
accessible under files). I've sorted the file by last name alphabetical
order for easier viewing.
Kristen, you mentioned a while ago that you thought there were some
errors with the addresses, could you check to see if these look right?
Laura, I apologize if your name is still on this file- I wasn't sure if
you fell under Mr&Mrs Phillip Sanagursky or not.
Jason, did Jane send you a list of May donors when she updated you with
the fund total? If so, could you send it to me so I can update the list?
To get things started, I added my name next to people I knew (and a few
people I didn't) to get 9 people to send notes to. If anyone sees a name
they would rather send a note to, let me know.
I've never shared files on yahoo before- I think it would be easier if
one file is maintained to avoid duplication and too many versions of the
file. If it's easier, you can send me the names of the people you'd like
to send notes to and I can add the updated file.
Any other suggestions for data management?
Thanks,
Jenn
Hey Guys,
I like the "Laura Ebertz and the Friends of Lisa Kuligowski" signature. I
think it might give us more room to write inside the actual card, and it's a
bit more personalized.

If you guys want me to go ahead and order those notes, that's no problem. What I will need is the highest resolution jpeg of the Love in Lisa logo, which I believe Missy might have (yes, Missy?). Also we need to decide the lauyout of the inside. I had thought to leave it blank and have whomever is writing sign it from (example) Jen Perri and the Friends of Lisa Kuligowski. Someone mentioned putting the signature with all our names like the letters that went out. Thoughts? The sooner we agree, the sooner I can order.

Jen, posting the graph with the sign-up option sounds like a great idea. I'm in.
As far as the thank you notes, what you said, too.

Thanks for sharing the latest update about the success of the fundraising activities! I look forward to seeing you all in Geneseo to discuss the award specifics.
Thanks Jen P and Carrie for looking into the cost of printing Thank Yous. I agree, ordering seems the way to go. I thought the price Jen was quoted seemed very reasonable. Does it help to send money to before ordering? Please let me know how much and where to send it.
Also, I've made an excel spreadsheet with the names of the donors on the two lists Jane sent a few weeks ago. There are currently 96 names (excluding ours, I don't think we need to mail thank yous to each other). Did we decide how the list was going to be divided? I seem to remember one idea was to send notes to people we knew, so it's more personal. One thought I had was to post this file to the yahoo page (is this safe- are we the only ones who can view it there?), and we can 'sign up' to send a note to a specific person. This way everyone will have access to the same file and we can keep track of who sent the note and when the note was sent. Let me know if you think this will be helpful.
Have a wonderful weekend!

I checked with the group settings and some things are currently unavailable; it seems like a system wide problem, so try again later. Let me know if there is a problem later.
I am also going to check with Office Max about printing too, I get a major discount for being a teacher. I hope to do that tomorrow.
Hi All,
One place I called is estimating about $86 for 100 thank you
cards/envelopes. The only difference in this estimate compared to
the other is that I asked them to include in the price of having
some text printed on the interior of the card in addition to the
LoveInLisa graphic on the front of the card. I thought it would be
nice, but certainly not mandatory, to include all of our names on
the inside while being personalized by one (like the letters Geneseo
sent out).
I have been trying to load a Microsoft Word doc so you folks could
visualize it, but Yahoo is saying the function is unavailable at the
moment. Not sure if it is Yahoo-wide or specific to this group.
(Jen P. - as moderator, can you check the settings just in case?)
All in all, I am just as happy as going with Jen's vendor. I just
basically wanted to confirm that the pricing was comparable, and
that has been validated.
Please keep an eye out for the file I am trying to load...
And yes, I am still game for Aug 14th.
-C
WOW! That's great. I can't believe it.
I'm fine with the $75 thank you cards. I dunno.. that sounds ok to
me. But let's see what Carrie comes back with from Oklahoma. Maybe
we need to get more than 100 though? How many donors are we up to?
I assume we'll also have to buy a whole whack of stamps for postage?
Everyone still on for August 14?

You GUYS!
Kim e-mailed me back already. She's going to have Jane double-check
the address list, and get us the April donors sometimes this week so
we can work on splitting up the thank-you notes. But, uh, here's the
best part about her letter:
"We are over $12,000 with the fund and still receiving checks daily."
Wow. Yay, everyone.
Love in Lisa,
Kristen
Thanks Jen for researching the costs. I will hopefully have an estimate
later today for printing in OK - I honestly have no idea what is considered
going rate, but at least with a second input we will be able to make an
informed decision. And I apologize for my slowness - I have only been home
for 2 nonconsecutive weeks since the beginning of March.
Just a general note- are we all to ask Kim individually for the address list
or will someone take the lead to post the list to the Group so we can divvy
it up?
Thanks all!
hey kris. if you contact kim about the addresses, also get an updated list
of those who donated in April.
all my addresses look alright.
i'm game for whatever thank you card we want to get.

First piece of business....address is said seven times. That is my guess.
Second (and more importantly) I have spoken to a printer. For a thank you sized, bi-fold card, medium stock white, with two color printing on one side (The Lisa logo on the front, blank for us to write a message on the inside) is going to be about $75 for 100 with envelopes. Does anyone know if this is cheap or not?
Let me know so we can get started.
Kristen, my address list reads the same as yours. A spot check of other people on the list who I know are correct (Did I miss it? When did Muldoon become as Mrs.?)
Hey Guys,
How are you all? Hope everybody is enjoying their Spring. The
weather in NYC is wicked good. It's even making Brooklyn look pretty.
I got the address list from Kim. It is so, so, so, so nice, and I'd
love to get started on thank you notes soon. Here's the thing - at
least toward the end of the list, I think the addresses themselves
might be a bit off. My sister (Linda Swensson) is listed as living in
Massapequa, when she's in Lake Grove. The next people after her, Mr.
and Mrs. Stephen Thayer, are Kathy Muldoon and her husband. It lists
them in Commack, though I'm pretty sure they're actually the ones in
Massapequa.
I have Kim's e-mail address on my work account, and will shoot her a
note on Monday. In the meantime, if anyone else has the list (and it
hasn't been thoroughly mangled by their dumbass mailperson ... grrr),
can you give it a look and see if the addresses match up? I'm pretty
sure it's just a problem near the end, because my address (the one
before Linda's) is fine.
Once it's all settled, I'll start looking into thank you notes.
Hearts and Stars and Sunny Weather,
Kristen
P.S. $10 for whoever correctly guesses how many times the word
"address" appeared in this e-mail. No counting!
