Aspirin therapy and EPO question   Message List

Hi Ellis and everyone, this is my first post.

A little about myself: I'm a 52 year old male, not feeling that
great the past couple of years. I started HGH the middle of Febuary
this year... I started test cyp, 40 mg shots every other day, the
beginning of May.

I will proabaly start Lantus in June.

Some nice results so far, but I'm a work in progress at this
time.

I'm intriqued about EPO. Do you think taking a baby aspirin a
day would actually work againt EPO because aspirin thins the blood
and EPO thickens it somewhat?

Ellis: [That is a good question... but... I think you can do both...

EPO increases the number of red blood cells, which benefits
you due to the increase of oxygen all over your body... it only
incidentally "thickens" the blood... It is as if you have an
uncrowded freeway: the freeway is still uncrowded after there
are 10% more cars... Assuming your hematocrit now is between 40%
and 45%, and that you are a healthy person and not a sick person,
there is no "danger" if your hematocrit is raised to between 44%
and 50%... (before you would use EPO, of course you should take
a blood test and know what is your hematocrit.)

A "baby" aspirin will not undo the benefit of the increase in
oxygen, and the increase in red blood cells will not undo the
benefit of a "baby" aspirin... So if you have any intention to do
one and/or the other, I think you can do one AND the other... Of
course, as long as you do not get your hematocrit UP too high
(which I think means "above 70%"...)
