I think I can safely say that in my case there is nothing
to support HGH starting diabetes. I have been taking about
2.25 units daily for almost 5 years.
Ellis: [Good! I like that you have taken 2.25 iu of HGH
everyday for almost 5 years... Can you tell us more about
the benefits and side effects that you have had in five years?
At what time do you inject? Do you split your dose? Do you
"rest" one or two days a week? About where is your IGF-1?
And of course I agree that HGH does not and will not cause
diabetes... if I get diabetes someday, as I expect I will
someday... I will continue to take HGH and I will treat the
diabetes (as I have treated it before I got it, anyways.)
- Ellis]
Last week I had a random blood sugar drawn at the level was
normal at 106 mg/dl. This during a night shift (increased
stress) and after eating a normal dinner and drinking a
Pepsi.
Ellis: [I would have drunk a Diet Pepsi... no sugar... The
glucose meter has convinced me it does not raise blood glucose...
I know many will tell me that the sugar substitutes are worse,
because there is a hoax going on about the dangers of NutraSweet...
But I am convinced that sugar substitutes are less evil than
SUGAR, and Dr. Bernstein thinks so too...
Life is made up of choices, not all of them clean cut black and
white, and this one might be a little grey, but I prefer Diet
soft drinks to the same with sugar.
Of course, water is better, but in Mexico City, drinking Diet
Coke is safer than drinking most water, except bottled water
which is not always available. - Ellis]
(Maybe a little on the high side for Ellis, but as a
doctor practicing Emergency Medicine my eating habits are
terrible.)
Scott P. Giles, D.O.
[Hello Dr. Giles... congratulations to you... Yes, 106 is
a little on the high side, for me.... but I am VERY HAPPY that
you are CHECKING your blood glucose and that you are AWARE of
what it is in the mornings... or at a random time... that is 90%
of the battle already won, because at least you THINK of what
the food you eat (or ate) is doing (or did, or will do) to your
blood glucose after you eat (or ate) it.
I suggest that anybody who does NOT have a glucose meter
should run and buy one (I suggest Roche Accucheck or Accutrend
Sensor, or similar, by Roche... because then you are compatible
with me... and I can help you to interpret your results better.)
and start checking your blood glucose BEFORE and AFTER eating...
Somebody called it "a Nutritionist in a box..."
It really is fantastic how much you will learn about eating by
learning how the food you eat affects your blood glucose. You
can study it in a book, but there is nothing like the shock value
of seeing a 180 mg/dl appear on the glucose meter after you ate
that delicious plate of spaghetti, or that harmless bun of
whole wheat bread, or that baked potato that you have been told
is so healthy for you...

NOW... I suggest you have to do something about it: Lantus
is the solution. Don't be afraid of it, just try it. I'm sure
anybody smart enough to be subscribed to Rejuvenation can handle
it.
I have never before suggested that anybody should use insulin,
even if I know it is easy to learn to use it correctly,
because I also know it can be dangerous if it is used
incorrectly.
But after using Lantus for about a month, or more, I am
convinced that it is very difficult to use Lantus incorrectly.
So I am convinced Lantus is very safe for everybody.
I am confident that you will not overdose on Lantus, even if
you forget to eat (but please: start with only 10 iu in the
early morning, to start... check your blood glucose several
times during the day... and don't forget to eat, sometime...)
10 iu of Lantus is about ONE iu of Humulin R all day long, ie,
it lowers my usual blood glucose about 10 points lower than
what I was accustomed to get, before Lantus.
So, don't be afraid of 10 iu of Lantus... if you make a mistake,
it isn't a big mistake. And it is PERFECT for you, precisely
because your eating habits are not perfect, and your job makes
it difficult for you to take great care.
I have two pages that you should read before you use Lantus:
Using Insulin

and
