You will do better getting the kosher meal.

Ellis: [Actually, I think you will do better getting the regular
meal, which sometimes includes a good chicken or steak, and just
leave all of the carbs on the plate.
Now the new mode is not to serve meals on many flights unless
they are more than 4 hours long. They just serve peanuts and
soft drinks, etc.
A very funny thing happened to me on Air France, crossing
the Atlantic. I asked for a Kosher meal for me and my
companion, because like you I thought it would probably be
healthier for us... But when they brought me and my
companion the Kosher meal, my companion complained that
there was a mistake, she is not Jewish, etc.
So they gave her a regular meal, and I was stuck with the
Kosher meal... but... when they passed out the regular meals,
I somehow switched and also got a regular meal too, because it
was much better than the dried up old shoe that they call a
steak served in the Kosher meal... and I left the Kosher meal...
Fortunately, there were extra meals on board, so I think the
Captain didn't have to eat a Kosher meal.
I was much happier with the non-Kosher meal even if the
Rabbis might not have been too pleased. (I am not strictly
Kosher... I am Kosher by tradition, but not fanatic about
it...)
There is no tougher and tasteless meat in the world than
Kosher steaks, because they must be drained of all blood.
If you must have a Kosher meal on an airplane, I hope you
get chicken and not steak. - Ellis]
