Hello,
I am 40 years old and I am 6 ft tall and 255 lbs. About 3-4 months
ago I ran through 6 mos of Omnitrope (5.8mg/vial) mixed with 3cc
water, which should have me at 17.4 IU per vial. I am not sure what
my IU does was. I was taking .20 on a U-100 insulin syringe (1/2 cc).
The high mark on this syringe is .50. I was taking this amount every
day in one injection in the morning.
Ellis: Since it was mixed with 3.0 cc water and you were taking
.20 on the syringe, you were getting 15 doses out of the vial,
which as you said correctly, has 17.4 iu... so your daily dose
was 17.4 divided by 15, which is a bit more than 1 iu per day.
Tony: If I calculated right, this is 2.5 IU per day. But I may
not be calculating right.
Ellis: No, you are not calculating right... Given the figures you
gave above, it was about 1.2 iu per day.
Tony: Concern I have is after running this for 6 months I did
not see much change in body composition. I was pretty active 4-5
days per week with aerobic and resistance training, which is always
typical. My diet was fairly clean. I can say I did notice I recovered
quicker and felt a little better physically, but not amazingly so.
Ellis: For your height (6'0") and weight (255 lbs) and age (40) I
would say what you got is right about what I would guess you should
have gotten from your dose, which I think was very little.
I think your ideal dose is between 2 and 4 iu per day.
Tony: I don't have my blood work handy from after starting the
Omnitrope, but I do know my IGF-I level before starting was 144. 3
months in it was around 350, but I dont have the report handy.
My question is: Did I caluclate the IU's I am taking correctly at
2.5, and if so, considering I was not happy with the results vs.
cost, should I consider a higher daily dosage?
Ellis: You calculated the iu's incorrectly. If you wanted to take
2 iu, you should have gotten about 8 or 9 doses from each vial...
that would give you 17.8 divided by 8 = 2.++ or 17.8 divided by
9 = nearly 2... So if you used 3 cc of water, you divide 300 by
8 and you get your dose should have been about 35, instead of 20.
Tony: I guess it is possible that I am one of those people who
don't respond to HGH. Any thoughts are appreciated. - Tony
Ellis: And I guess you will respond very well if you increase your
dose to "40" or "50" on the same vial, using the same amount of
water which you used before. Good luck and let us know how you
come along. Thanks for writing. - Ellis
