Hi everyone,
I am very new and trying to begin to understand the mechanics of all this. I
HATE pens and won't use them (I had to deal with them doing IVF). I would
rather reconstitute and inject myself.
My question is about dilutant. I see that bacteriostatic water and sterile
water are for sale but not in single use vials. So once you open the bottle of
either, isn't it no longer sterile? How do you keep the water sterile after the
first use? Is that even a consideration?
Also, I see on amazon that you can by sterile saline solution in single use
packets. Could that be used or am I way off base here?
Thanks. I look forward to learning more.
Ellis: Hello Jodie. Welcome to Rejuvenation.
I AGREE with you about pens. I hate them too. They do absolutely
NOTHING for you except they PUSH THE NEEDLE, and they RAISE THE COST
of an iu of growth hormone. Besides, they are complicated, and
they waste growth hormone, and they also cause bruises...
Let's get to the topic of dilutants...
Every brand of growth hormone that I know comes with its own
dilutant. Humatrope comes with bacteriostatic water, and most
others do not come with bacteriostatic water they come with
isotonic sodium chloride solution, which is sterile water with
a little bit of salt to match the salt in human blood.
You can buy bacteriostatic water on the internet, for example at:
http://www.bulknutrition.com/
Or you can make your own bacteriostatic water, with .9% benzyl
alcohol and "sterile saline solution" That is: almost 1%
benzyl alcohol, and 99% water. You can buy benzyl alcohol at
a compounding pharmacy. Somebody suggested that you can also
use a tiny bit of VODKA (which is almost 100% pure alcohol)...
Imagine all the little bacteria swimming about, drunk out of their
minds... they are too drunk to have sex with each other, or not
even with themselves... so they can't duplicate... which is what
bac water is for.
(note: I KNOW bacteria don't have "sex" with each other... I am
just imagining it, as a joke...)
In general, you can use bac water for several months... and you
can use sterile water for at least one week if it is sealed with
a rubber stopper and bacteria hasn't gone in... Think of the
boxes of milk that you can keep in the cupboard for one year and
they are fine... until you OPEN them... at which point you assume
that bacteria might get inside the box of milk and then they EAT
the milk...
The same thing happens to growth hormone... but if bacteria can't
get INSIDE the vial, then they can't break it down... don't worry
about this, it is mostly a precaution and a non-issue.
Thanks for writing. - Ellis
