Hi Ellis
Thanks for the explanation - sorry for the typo I meant 10ml
bottle of Lantus
Now that you are taking twice as much Lantus a day are you still
using 'Humalog" after or before meals. - Peter
Ellis: Hello Peter. Yes, I still inject Humalog (or Humulin...)
but I don't have to inject as much, and usually I inject 2 iu
maximum. So my usual dose is 0 or 1 or 2 iu... I inject
Humulin for the anticipated peaks, like before I will eat...
And I inject Humulin or Humalog if I test and I find a peak...
A "peak" with me means about 100 mg/dl or higher... If I get
100 mg/dl and I ate 30 minutes ago, I take 2 iu, and that will
bring me down to the 70's in about an hour. If I would not
inject, it would go to the 90's in about two hours. So I am
getting a lot cooler using insulin than I would be without
using insulin.
And... according to "the Glucose Theory of Aging" which is only "according to
Ellis" (but who else should I listen to?) this will
HELP ME to slow down aging a bit. It certainly won't HARM me,
and it might HELP me.. I'll tell you 40 years from now, because
I think I am the first person in history to try it.

Humulin is very similar to Humalog. In the example of a car,
it is the difference between stepping on the gas pedal lightly,
or stepping on the gas pedal a bit more determined... I like
both, but I like Humalog a bit better. I use the same dose
of each, Humalog is just a bit faster than Humulin, and lasts a
bit less in the body.
Lantus is like having AN UMBRELLA with you, it really clips
off the tops of the peaks... So I might get a peak, but it
would have been higher if I had not taken Lantus.
Thanks for writing. Are you thinking of using insulin? Are
you diabetic, or non-diabetic?
I AM GLAD to be teaching somebody how to use insulin. It really
is the single most important hormone that we should learn to use.
And it is practically FREE, compared to the cost of other hormones.

I am absolutely convinced that having learned to use insulin will
extend my healthspan because I will NOT have had high blood
glucose most of the time from the time I started to use insulin
about age 54 until I die, which might be 30 or 40 (or 50 or 60...)
years later.

Hi Ellis
On your web site you say you use 15 IU of Lantus a day
ince its only available as a 100 ml bottle 100 IU/Ml with
a recommended open shelf life of 28days - Do you throw away the
unused portion or do you keep using until the bottle is used up?
If the latter how long do you keep using a bottle and do you
notice any drop off in its potency?
Thank You
Peter
Ellis: Hello Peter
You are mistaken. It is available in a 10 ml bottle, not 100 ml.
And yes, it is 100 iu/ml so that makes it 1000 iu. not 10,000 iu
in one vial.
When I wrote the page, I was still learning... I used 10 iu in
the morning and 5 iu at night... but after testing other doses,
I have settled on 20 iu's in the morning and 10 iu's at night, which
is 30 iu per day.. So it would last me 33 days if I would inject
the 10iu at night every day... but I don't... So in fact it lasts
me about 45 days. (It is difficult to do something that you
should do every day, until it becomes a RITUAL... it still has
not become a RITUAL with me... I still have to think about it...)
But if I was using 15 iu per day, and the vial contained 10,000
iu, I definitely would not throw it away after 28 days!
It doesn't crumble and melt away just because somebody printed "28
days" on the label, and they are really conservative figures.
I have used growth hormone YEARS after it was expired, and it was
perfectly good. And I still use authentic Quality Vet testosterone
that I have which expired in 2005, and I have never noticed any
drop off in potency in it or in any of the hormones that I inject
(HGH, Testosterone, EPO, and insulin)...
I don't recommend that anybody should do what I do, but I am
telling you what I do because you asked, and that's how I do it.
thanks for writing,
Ellis
