Shelf life of Lantus   Message List
Reply | Forward Message #10186 of 10281 |
Hi Ellis

On your web site you say you use 15 IU of Lantus a day

Since its only available as a 100 ml bottle   100 IU/Ml  with
a recommended open shelf life of 28days - Do you throw away the
unused portion or do you keep using until the bottle is used up?

If the latter how long do you keep using a bottle and do you
notice any drop off in its potency?

Thank You

Peter

Ellis: Hello Peter

You are mistaken. It is available in a 10 ml bottle, not 100 ml.
And yes, it is 100 iu/ml so that makes it 1000 iu. not 10,000 iu
in one vial.

When I wrote the page, I was still learning... I used 10 iu in
the morning and 5 iu at night... but after testing other doses,
I have settled on 20 iu's in the morning and 10 iu's at night, which
is 30 iu per day.. So it would last me 33 days if I would inject
the 10iu at night every day... but I don't... So in fact it lasts
me about 45 days. (It is difficult to do something that you
should do every day, until it becomes a RITUAL... it still has
not become a RITUAL with me... I still have to think about it...)

But if I was using 15 iu per day, and the vial contained 10,000
iu, I definitely would not throw it away after 28 days!

It doesn't crumble and melt away just because somebody printed "28
days" on the label, and they are really conservative figures.

I have used growth hormone YEARS after it was expired, and it was
perfectly good. And I still use authentic Quality Vet testosterone
that I have which expired in 2005, and I have never noticed any
drop off in potency in it or in any of the hormones that I inject
(HGH, Testosterone, EPO, and insulin)...

I don't recommend that anybody should do what I do, but I am
telling you what I do because you asked, and that's how I do it.

thanks for writing,

Ellis
