I contacted a hormone clinic and they want big bucks for a
consultation and blood tests. If I plan to take a small dose of 1
or 2 IU's a day, are these tests necessary?
Ellis: Let us suppose that there would be a new Law that says
that you must have a prescription to buy a glass of water.
My first question: Do you think DOCTORS would be IN FAVOR of
such a law... or AGAINST it? (not likely AGAINST it...)
Now, let us suppose you contacted the same clinic that you
contacted above, and you tell them you would like a prescription
to buy a glass of water... How much do you think it will cost to
CONSULT with an endocrinologist to see if you can drink water?
(Think of a figure... Now divide that figure by two.... If it
is less than 100, add 200!)
Or let us pretend that YOU are the doctor at this clinic, and
YOU must BACK UP every prescription that you give. How would
you decide which TESTS you should take to decide if it is SAFE
for your patient to drink a glass of water?
Let me tell you, my friend, you better have a large bank account
somewhere. You are now playing games in The System.
If you are in the United States, it is going to cost you a few
thousand dollars before you touch the first unit of growth hormone.
Let me tell you what you might get: a blood test... an electro-
cardiogram... perhaps an x-ray... a stress test... they will check
to see if your heart is well, if your eyes are well, if your
reflexes are well... they will check to see if you might have
cancer... they will check to see if your liver is well, and if
your kidneys and pancreas are all functioning properly... they
will even check to see if your MEMORY is working well enough...
please pay at the cashier, and come again next week for another
interesting (for the doctor) consultation...
And if you happen to have INSURANCE who will pay for the tests,
then I hope you like tests, because they found A PATIENT WITH
INSURANCE. They will check to see if you have enough vitamin
A, B, C, D, and E... and F, G, H, I, J, and K...
They might find a suspicious result and order more tests...
sign here... they will collect from the insurance company.
And then they will give you a prescription to drink water,
but they won't let you get away... They need to take more tests
to see if the water is hydrating properly, or if it is being
absorbed properly.
I kid you not. That is how some doctors see their patient.
You are a means to an end... and the end is a big dollar sign.
I know a FAMOUS DOCTOR in the North-East who does this, exactly as
I describe above..
And, oh yes, his consultation fee is about $400 per shot. The
more famous, the more the consultation fee.
But... Yes... I think some blood tests are very important...
The single most important blood test for men is the P.S.A.
prostate specific antigen. And the REASON this is important is
NOT because it will affect whether or not you should take
growth hormone or not, because it wouldn't change my decision
if I was a doctor. It is important because it doesn't make
sense to take growth hormone to have better health if you are
going to die for a silly reason, like you didn't take a cheap
blood test that could have detected prostate cancer in time to
be cured.
So... I didn't answer your question very well, but I told you
what you can expect if you go to that clinic.
See my page below, and write to me and I will help you to
interpret your blood tests:
