Hi Ellis;
What do you think of Humulin 70/30 for day over use, with Humalog
for peaks if you get them?
I know you use Lantus, but is the 70/30 a reasonable substitute
if it happens to be handy? Keep in mind that Lantus is a
prescription item in the US.
Thanks,
TY
Ellis: Hello Ty... No, Humulin 70/30 is NOT a reasonable
substitute for Lantus. ("70/30" means 70% long-lasting
insulin and 30% short lasting fast acting)
If I only had Humulin 70/30 and Humalog available, I would use
only Humalog. The reason is: at least I know where I am standing.
In fact, for several years until I learned about Lantus, I
only used Humalog, with very good results.
The difference is that when I began to use Lantus, I get
just as good results, easier, and I inject a lot less.
When I only had Humalog, I used to inject 3 to 6 times per day...
Now that I use Lantus I inject: one Lantus in the morning...
perhaps no Humalogs or 1 Humalog all day long... and one Lantus
at night.
See my page: Using Lantus...
http://www.rajeun.net/usinglantus.html
You will find a graph of how Lantus acts... and NPH, which is
somewhat similar to 70/30... You see that Lantus gives a steady
dose of insulin, and NPH gives an increase then a decrease... so
you don't know how much insulin is acting at any given time,
you have to GUESS... and if you don't guess correctly, then
you might get either hypoglycemia, or hyperglycemia, which is
what you are trying to avoid by using insulin, in the first
place.
I am in Europe as I write. Unfortunately I FORGOT TO PACK
MY GROWTH HORMONE with me, and I didn't remember until I
was in Paris...
This will be the SECOND TIME in MORE THAN TEN YEARS that I am
not taking my injectible growth hormone every single day.
The FIRST TIME it was intentional: I stopped taking HGH for 30
days because somebody said my pituitary surely was FRIED... so
I stopped taking HGH and I took FIVE blood tests in 30 days...
To make a long story short: after thirty days my IGF-1 was
at 201, which is LIKE AN ATHLETE... This showed that my pituitary
is definitely not like a fried pituitary should have been...
That was in late 1999 or early 2000...
Well, now I am forced not to take HGH again, because I can't
buy it in Europe... (I don-t have Ellis Toussier to help me,
like YOU do...) So this time I will be OFF of HGH for THREE
WEEKS...
But to make a good situation out of a bad one, now I AM FORCED to
try to keep my IGF.1 UP by my own efforts...
And... I am one of the few persons on planet earthm including most
doctors, who is capable of causing my pituitary to secrete HGH
on demand...
No, I will not take any secretagogues... I am The Incredible Dirty
Old Man Who is not a diabetic and who takes INSULIN... Insulin
can stimulate the release of Growth Hormone, if you know how to
do it, and I know how to do it... so that is what I am going to
do.
SO... when I get back to Mexico (Dec. 17) I will take an IGF-1
blood test, and I hope I will be able to SHOW YOU that I can keep my IGF-1 UP
without injecting HGH.
I promise I will let you know the result of my blood test and I
promise I will show you how I did it, if I do it.
