HOW TO CHANGE YOUR LIST EMAIL OPTIONS TO RECEIVE LESS EMAIL

A lot of people who unsub from this list write a note saying that the amount of
email they receive is too large. With over 1400 members, the Reiki Workshops
list can generate several dozen messages per day. However, you have the option
to receive less email, or no email at all if you want to. You can still use the
web features such as the teacher database and calendar, and browse messages at
the website that are of interest to you.

When you join the group by email, you are automatically set to receive every
message posted to the list as an individual email message. You can change that
at any time.

First, at the bottom of every messsage sent out by this group is a signature
block that contains full information on resetting your email preferences by
simply sending one email to the yahoo list manager. Here is how it works:

If you want to receive only a single email message per day containing a "digest"
of all of the messages posted to the list that day, send a blank email message
to this address:

ReikiWorkshops-digest@yahoogroups.com

(On some days when a lot of things are posted to the list, or as we continue to
grow, you might receive two email digests per day. Each digest contains a
maximum of twenty or so messages.)

If you are on digest setting, *please* remember to set your email program so
that it does *not* quote the message you are replying to. Otherwise, you will
copy the entire digest -- all twenty odd messages -- back to the list with your
reply. If that happens, the message will be sent back to you with the request
that you edit out the extra material. (You might also want to copy the message
subject line of the message you are replying to into your subject line, and add
"Re:" at the beginning. Otherwise, your subject will read something like "Re:
[ReikiWorkshops] Digest No. 15" which is not very informative and may not get

If you would like to receive no email at all from the group, but still be able
to view the ReikiWorkshops Calendar, the Teachers Database, the Links directory

particular subject or by a particular teacher -- things that are only available

"No Email" means exactly what it says. You will receive no email messages at all
from the group, but will still be able to view everything you wish to see

Hi, Tarra:

I've just joined this forum and am jumping right in. It's nice to
make your acquaintance.

Prior to the class, I have a discussion with each prospective
student because four things are involved at this particular level:
Committment, Spiritual path, Sincerity, and Integrity. Set up the
questions in a way that potential students are free to explore their
answers; in other words, open-ended questions. Gauge how you feel
about the responses and their honesty - especially if the students
are coming to you from a previous teacher. [If the student
is coming from a previous teacher, I like to have them bring their
original certification for proof of learning.]

Set up standards for the students who seek training through you.
Remember, it is your choice whether or not to take them as students.

When teaching a higher level of Reiki, I personally like to start by
briefly going over the previous levels and guaging where each
student is at with what they know *as a group*. During this period
of time, I also write notes, bsed on each students statements, about
what items to go over more fully - if needed. I ask each student in
turn, how they are doing with Reiki, have they come across any
complicated issues which they've found hard to assist clients with,
what kind of additional studying they've done on their own, etc; and
also have each student mimic the hand positions for various things,
including self-treatments. This helps me understand even better
where each student is at and what should be covered. Also, during
this time, I allow I allow for an open forum, so to speak, for
questions and answers about the previous levels and the work
thereof.

At some point during this intial period, I also like to the class if
anyone has experienced any cleansing periods, refinement periods,
and / or healing crisis. This will give you insight of those who
might need additional help during the course of the class. (If any
student has never gone through any of these points, something is
amiss, especially when the student is at a higher level of Reiki.)

I cover ethical issues, diffuse the I'm-special egos ('cause none of
us are), and the huge responsibilities of being a Reiki practitioner
(or teacher) with every class I teach, even if the students have
heard it all a million times.

From this point, giving any advice/suggestions is moot as I have no
idea exactly what information you wish to impart to your students at
this level, what you have added or subtracted, what you have learned
up to this point, etc. Obviously you know all the basics or you
wouldn't be teaching. So from here I would recommend taking pen and
paper and writing down everything you want to cover for your
students. Look at your list and prioritize them, least important to
most important. This will give a real helpful starting point for how
to organize this class.

Remember: when the teacher is teaching, the teacher also becomes a
student. = )

I hope I've been able to help at least a little. keep us updated as
to how the class preparations are going and perhaps more ideas and
suggestions will come to the surface.

I had a major shift in my life after a serious back injury, from

Initiations into the Andean Priesthood, The Art of Personal Power
April 22, 23, 24, 2005, Zane Curfman.


In April of 2005, Andean Priest Zane Curfman will be leading a 3-day
workshop initiating participants into the 4th level of Andean
priesthood. This is an extremely rare opportunity to receive these
initiations and we are very proud to offer it at the Self-Health and
Awareness Center. Zane is a gifted healer and a wonderful teacher. He
is one of only a few people in the United States approved to offer
these initiations. Here is how he describes the workshop:

This workshop is the initiations of the 4th level Andean priesthood,
comprising of the Phana and Chaupi traditions, otherwise known as the
Right and Middle paths of the priesthood. Phana, or the Right side,
is the Masculine side. It is considered the road to God and is
comprised of the rational and cognitive elements of this tradition.
In this tradition, we see ourselves as Earth people. All of the magic
and spirit we see is earth based. It is with this communication with
nature and spirit that we learn. The best way to explain this is that
the techniques and knowledge can be learned but not taught. These
initiations open a sacred space to begin your communication with the
environment.  By this I mean learning to feel subtle energies that
make up our environment.

The chaupi side teaches how to effect our energetic environment. So,
first we will be opening our ability to feel energies and learning
how to have meaningful communication with nature. Then we will learn
how to effect our energetic environment for the changes we want. In
our tradition, we call the Earth Pachamama and see her as the
feminine aspect of God. We see ourselves as more then just healers of
man but we heal the earth also.

attunement or simulateous with it.  This is the only yahoogroups that focuses on
training in Reiki and other energy work.  Posts that are only concerned with
requests for attunements and not with training are off-topic and will not be
approved.

digest message, it will copy the *entire* digest of 20 to 25 messages back into
your reply and I will "bounce" the message back to you asking that you correct

Another message reply basic:  Remember not to simply hit the reply button on

If you do that, your note will go to over 1,400 people automatically.  Click on
the email address of the person who posted the workshop to the list, and you
will send a private note just to them.  This is much more likely to quickly get
you the information that you need.  This is an international list, and please
remember that internet access is paid for by the minute in some countries so

Folks, I am taking a break for a few minutes from the attunements I
am offering in conjunction with the New Year's Eve Global healing to
share a couple of things with you.  First, the reports I am getting
back from people who requested attunement have been very positive and
far beyond my expectations.  Frankly, I have never attempted to
attune this many people in such a short span of time -- in fact, I
don't know if *anyone* has ever tried to do something like this.

The energy flows involved are utterly incredible.  I am working
constantly on keeping grounded since the world seems less and
less "real" as I go on.  The connections between myself and others
and the world are becoming far more real than the room around me.  I
have had similar reports from many of the people that have been
attuned.  Others have had very different experiences, but there are
common threads among the reports.  I am ever more hopeful that our
combined efforts will have more of an effect for good than any of us
could have anticipated.

That is very good, since the situation in southeast Asia is far worse
than anyone first realized or admitted.  The official death tole is
over 125,000 people as I write this note.  However, I have reports
that the death tole in Indonesia alone may be at least **400,000**
people.  India may also be under-reporting the deaths.  Some nations
have not released any death estimates yet.  The death tole looks
likely to climb easily over a half a million people, with perhaps an
equal number who might die later from disease and starvation.

Also, as I have worked throughout the day on the attunements and
empowerments, I have felt increasing instability and danger.  As bad
as the earthquakes and tsunamis were, I do not think that the worst
has passed.  I am *very* hopeful that our combined efforts can
prevent even greater suffering and loss of life.  Thank you to
everyone for participating.

I am going to suggest that if you are participating in the Global
Healing, that part of your healing efforts on New Year's Eve be
directed toward healing the whole planet and easing the stresses and
strains that might lead to further earthquakes, volcanic eruptions,
and tidal waves.  I keep feeling that the whole earth has been
unsettled and the readjustment may be catastrophic.  I hope that I am
wrong.

are going to need material assistance in the wake of this disaster.
Red Cross/Red Crescent and other organizations are going to need help
in meeting the many very real needs.

I was pleased to see Will has a link to Meetup.com on the home page of
this group.  I am the organiser of the London, UK Reiki meetup, (dont
all groan 'oh not her again').  It will be great to see anyone at the
meetups whether or not they belong to meetup.com.  The next London one
is on Jan 12th, in a cafe almost on top of Angel tube station.

I've just accepted an invitation to become the MeetUp.com organizer
for monthly Reiki Shares and Circles in Asheville and western North
Carolina.  I'd like to invite everyone in the area to help get the
events going and become a part of the new effort.

In addition to regular Reiki healing circles, we'll also be doing
follow-ups on the Global Reiki Healing and Harmony event on a local
level, as well as cooperating in putting on introductory Reiki
evenings and free healing events for folks interested in learning
more about Reiki.

MODERATOR NOTE: We generallly do not send healing requests through

special circumstance that I wanted to break the rules in this
instance.

Over 11,000 people are now believed to be dead in Asia in the
aftermath of two devasting earthquakes and the resulting tsunami
tidal waves.  The death tole is expected to rise.  The worst quake is
estimated to have been a 9.0 in magnitude, making it the largest in
40 years and the fourth largest in the last 100 years.  Here is a

I'd like to request that all list members send Reiki, SKHM, or other
healing energy to this situation and the many, many victims.  If it
fits your spirituality, you might also offer prayers, positive

I'll have more information in the next day on preparation for the
Global Reiki Peace and Harmony Healing event scheduled for New Year's
Eve.  I'll be performing the Peace Manifestation Attunement on Dec.
30 for all who have requested it, and will have more information on
that going out in the next day or so as well.  With the major quakes
that have struck in the last few days off Tasmania, in Iraq, and now
in Indonesia and Bangladesh, global harmony and planetary healing are
taking on new and larger meaning than any of us might have
anticipated.

This class is for anyone who has had Reiki Master training. It is
recommended that you have been a Reiki Master for at least 1 year

This class is complete with two levels, two attunements, four master

years and have found it to be effective and powerful. The energy has

As I announced previously, I am offering a free group global healing
attunement on Dec. 30 for anyone who wishes to receive it in
preparation for the group Global Peace and Harmony Healing on New
Year's Eve.  This is similar, although not identical, to the Healing
Attunement pioneered by William Rand and really grew out of
discussions I had with him and with Walter Lubeck concerning the
nature of Reiki energy, attunements, and group Reiki work.

Please understand that this is an experimental attunement, and I
would appreciate feedback from anyone who participates to help me
make this more effective and useful.  It is limited in time -- the
attunement will be active in those who receive it from Dec. 30
through Jan. 1 -- and limited in purpose by intent.

The attunement is designed to knit together the hearts and minds of
those receiving it so that we can work more effectively as channels
for Reiki in bringing about global peace and harmony during the New
Year's Eve Healing.  It will not entangle you with others receiving
it beyond this specific purpose, and can only operate for the higher
good of those who receive it and for the world as a whole.  You
should notice an enhancement in your energy while working on the
global healing, as well as a greater connectiveness.

I have worked with similar "limited" (or better, "specific")
attunements for a number of years -- but this is the first time I
have used one for global efforts.  In addition to the attunement
itself, I will be performing reiju periodically from the time I give
the attunements through January 1 to assist and empower those who are
participating in this Global healing.  (I would invite other masters
to contact me off-list if they would like to assist "behind the
scenes" in this way as well.)

This attunement will also include a "temporary booster" for those who
have not taken Reiki II yet to enable you to work with distance
healing in this specific circumstance.  Please take note of the
separate message about the use of a Reiki Crane as a proxy for your
global healing.

If you wish to receive this attunement, I will need you to email me
privately at reikiwill@... (reikiwill at gmail dot com) with
your name, where you live, and a specific request or permission to
include you.

I would also appreciate feedback from those who receive the
attunement on anything you experienced on Dec 30, on New Year's Eve
while sending Reiki, or beyond.  Please treat this as you would any
attunement, and prepare by limiting your use of caffeine, drugs,
stimulants or any other optional substances that might affect you.
Drink plenty of water, take it easy, and watch your diet -- some
things that may not be easy and may involve some sacrifice on behalf
of world peace during the New Year's celebrations. *gr*  I think it
is worth it -- especially this year.

Further information about the group Global Healing on New Year's Eve,
including a Reiki Crane method of group sending.  I'm copying this
post to Reiki Workshops since the two lists have independent
memberships but many here might be interested in participating as
well.

I have received a lot of private emails asking to be included in the
group global healing attunement I mentioned in another post -- I am
swamped at the moment with business details for next year as I set up
my own classes, workshops and retreats, the guest teachers and
workshop leaders I have coming in and my moderator duties on these
lists of course, so please understand that individual replies to each
of you will be slow in coming.  I will be attuning everyone who has
contacted me however.  More info on that in another post.

Since the Advanced Reiki Topics group has over 1600 members in
countries throughout the world, setting one specific time is neither
practical nor probably necessary.  I am simply going to ask that you
set aside as much time on New Year's Eve to send Reiki (or other
energy) as you feel led to set aside.  Please try to allow at least
fifteen to twenty minutes on that day, however.  Obviously, if you
feel led to do so, please send Reiki more than once on New Year's
Eve.

I have also been asked about permission to send this idea to others.
Of course!  The more participating, the better.  Permission is
granted to forward this post and others in this thread to other Reiki
groups, newsletters, etc where the idea would be well received.
Please pass the information on to any Reiki shares you participate in
also.  However, please use good judgement, check first with the group
moderator, follow the rules of those groups and do not "spam" them.

As part of this distant group effort, I am going to suggest using
something I am calling the Reiki Crane as an aid to our work.

If you are familiar with the Peace Crane origami projects, you will
see that this is an adaptation of that idea.  By adding Reiki, we
should be able to pick up on the symbols and energy involved, focus
them, and amplify them.  Simply make an origami peace crane
(instructions below) and use it in your distant Reiki effort on New
Year's Eve the way you might use a teddy bear or other symbolic prop
or proxy.

Special origami paper can be found at most craft stores now, but you
can use any paper you wish to use.  Before you begin folding the
paper into a crane, I would suggest that you take some time to pray
and/or meditate on world peace and harmony and the purpose of this
group effort.  If your training includes it, you can then draw Symbol
1, Symbol 2 and Symbol 3 on the paper, fixing your intention
appropriately on the purpose of the global healing and the crane as a
tool. If your training has included empowering objects such as
crystals or other tools, you can use the same techniques to "reikify"
the origami crane.

Once you have a crane, if you are at least level 2 in Reiki, use it
as as proxy just as you would a photo or other object while you are
sending Reiki on New Year's Eve.  If you are level 1, but would like
to participate, contact me at reikiwill@... (reikiwill at gmail
dot com) and get on the list for the special global healing
attunement I am doing on Dec. 30 -- that will include a temporary
empowerment to allow you to use the Reiki Crane as a focal point in
sending distant Reiki in this effort for world peace and harmony.

More instructions will follow as we get closer to New Year's Eve.

(The group attunement, by the way, is similar in nature and method to
the healing attunement pioneered by William Rand although it is not
identical to a healing attunement.  This specialized attunement did
grow out of a discussion with William involving Reiki energy,
attunements and group work, however, and I wanted to give credit to
him for sparking the idea.)

**Please, even if you ordinarily work without symbols or proxies,
give the Reiki Crane a try.**  The power already inherent in the
peace crane symbol is something you might find it interesting to tap
into, and the crane also provides a tangible focal point for our
united efforts on New Year's Eve.  The whole is greater than the sum
of its parts -- I believe you will find that the group gestalt is
noticeably different when bonded in this way than the effect of each
of us as individuals channeling Reiki.  Our individual limitations
are "smoothed out" by our unity and together we form a better, more
open, channel.
