Hi Will,
Good to hear from you. I hope this takes off. I seems to have
been in reiki limbo myself for a while. Just a bit about me. I have
been a reiki healer/teacher for about 2 yrs now. I work part time out
of a new age shop doing reiki, as well as my full time job. Soon
after I went through the levels of reiki it seemed everyone in my
area was doing it. So it's been tough to get a clientel going. Also
with the economy the way it is, people are less willing to part with
a fee for a reiki healing. I was certified in traditional reiki. It
is my personal belief that I may have been touched by spirit with
reiki before I took the classes/attunements. I have always hated the
cold and tended to have cold hands in the winter time. About three
months before I formally took reiki my hands would become warm/hot
and pump out warmth. Somehow, I dont remember I sought out a reiki
class, and I had not heard of reiki before the warm hands thing. So
here I am today. I am going to put this out and would like others
input as I have numerouse disagreements with my friend who also does
reiki.
1) I do not believe everyone should be taught reiki. I think everyone
needs to be looked at induvidually. But I shy away from people with
ego, emotional, or temperment issues. My friend thinks everyone
should be taught reiki. I think we all have our own talents and they
are not always the same things.
2) I do not beleive that to get the reiki attunements that anyone
should have to pay an outragous fee. I have known people who have
paid upwards of $1500 and some who have been told they have to buy a
reiki healing board for several hundred dollars. I got the whole ball
of wax for $400 and I bought my own massage table for healings. My
friend would almost give the attunements away and I have tried to
explain to him that people do not always appreciate things when it is
given to them for free or for almost nothing. Also that his/my time
is valuable and worthy of a respectable fee.
