Hi,
My name is Barbara. I'm new to the group. I have three children. My sons Max
2 1/2 and Corbin 14 mths have reflux. My 2 year old seems to have the most
problems, but only started being treated for it after his 2nd birthday. He has
a
chronic cough. He runs low-grade fevers. He doesn't sleep well and is to the
point
of barely eating any solid food. He never has been much of an eater, but he
used
to eat starchy foods. Now he barely eats any foods. He also was treated for
what was
thought to be a chronic sinus infection. Not so. Seen Infectious Disease
doctors,
and alergist and finally an ENT. He feels all of Max's problems are due to the
reflux. The GI doc put him on previcid and he does sleep a little better now,
but his
eating is worse than ever. He'll be having an endoscope done in Jan. the doc
says
if it doesn't show esophigitis then we will have to consider a behavioral
eating program. Is anyone out there familiar with this? I'd really like to
hear
more about it. My 14 mth old was diagnosed at 4 days old. He had an ALTE
(aperent
life threating event) stopped breathing, turned blue. Really scary to learn
that
reflux can cause SIDS. That's what the pulmonologist told us. Something that
every parent should know. He has had some really rough times with the reflux,
but is doing well. He still takes his propulsid and zantac every night before
bed. He can't keep his bottle down without it.
I'm going to stop for now. I'll add to my story another time.
If anyone has any info about Behavioral Eating Programs please let me know.
Thanks for listening,
Barbara
