Hi everyone,
It's been awhile since I wrote but I read everyone's emails and relate!
Teddy went from Prilosec to Pepcid this summer and then started
Kindergarten. Boy have there been problems! Of course we don't know if
it's all due to the reflux but I know that his SI (sensory integration
dysfunction) gets worse when his pain increases. He says the class is too
noisy and on the playground, he sits by himself everyday. The school
counselor in going to observe him but just yesterday he said it's just too
loud. Maybe earplugs will help. Also he complains of tummy aches a lot and
his throat hurting him and being tired all the time. They checked for
anemia and it was negative. I give him a multi vitamin. They checked for
strep throat. They put him on anitbiotics thinking maybe he had a chronic
low grade sinus infection that interferred with his sleep. He is also very
short and I wonder what is going on. We see his gastro doctor in two weeks
and I want him back on the Prilosec. He was doing so well on it but was on
it for a year. I'm sure that he won't switch him until he does another endo
to prove the pepcid doesn't work. I'm just a little frustrated. I know
that so many of you have kids that are REALLY sick but Teddy just isn't
having a normal childhood. It's unfair. His younger brother doesn't have
reflux or any of it's related problems and he has it so easy. Thanks for
listening.
Valerie.
