Cathy and friends,
Sorry I have not gotten back earlier but Sarah has been down with the
intestinal flu. Regarding the tests Sarah has already had the endoscopy
and the doctor will be doing the pH probe at the end of this month. She
has been on Propulsid and Prilosec and Mylanta for about 5 months at high
dosages and continues to have symptoms. She is a pretty strong little one
and does not complain much. She is scared of the test and possible
surgery. But she also does not realize the long term affects of this
illness. She does not understand why she must take so much meds. I have
been doing a lot of reading and noticed that in some cases the patient also
does an esophogeal Manometry test. It is similar to the pH probe but is
looking for the motility of the esophogus and the strength of the LES
(sphincter at the stomach). I am going to check with the Dr to see if
there is any chance that they will require this if so can they do both
tests at the same time. I do not want to put her through this trauma again
if we can do it concurrently.
