five years of this it is what has been true with my son. I hope this helps.

Rhonda,
Actually this is exactly what I needed to hear! Because my son *is*
having ebb and flow and my doctor is stuck in the Crohn's warp. She is *not*
able to believe - even with the negative biopsy showing no Crohn's in the
stomach - that there is *not* something here that she has to fix. He was put
on prednisone because a virus completely shut down his system, he wasn't able
to eat for a week and lost 10 pounds. It is rare, but it happens. Now, with
TPN, he has put back the 10 pounds and his body has had the time it needed to
recover from the virus. (It was a really nasty stomach virus going around
that everyone, even adults, were taking two weeks to really recover) Now,
the doc wants to keep him on the prednisone, because - and I quote - he
should be able to eat like other kids. AAaaahh! I said, a lot of kids have
to be a special diet, it's OK and it is better than prednisone. He is
already starting with the rare side effect of pseudorheumatism that he gets
on prednisone. If it weren't so serious, it would be laughable. Let me see,
"eat like everyone else" or "run, play, and write". Hmmm... not a tough
decision.
Anyway, the saga will continue today when she finds out that we are
satisfied with the explanation for staying on prednisone.
