Re: One more thing...

Dear Patricia,

My son has had this problem off and on since he was two years old. His
reflux was diagnosed at two years old. His reflux was missed at birth
because he was diagnosed with a heart problem that might have needed open
heart surgery when he was two weeks old. It turned out he did not have that
problem but it took 18 months for them to decide that. At 18 months he was
only 18 pounds. We went to a ped gi who misdiagnosed him.

Thanks goodness we had to change pediatricans and she got him hospitalized
where they found the reflux. My son had ashram (it has cleared up since the
Nissan). He has been on zantac, carafate, propulsid, prevacid, regalan, bentayl.
Currently he is on prevacid and bentayl. He had the Nissan about a year and
a half ago. He no longer throws up but he still refluxes and has motility
problems.

One of the ways we can tell my son is refluxing is by his voice. He get very
horse to the point of almost loosing his voice when the reflux is bad. We
had him checked out from an ent and he said he has vocal cord damage from the
reflux but that it would get better as the reflux got better. He also coughs
allot when he is refluxing.

In addition to the reflux he has a year and a half growth delay and allergies
though none we can find to food. He is very smart maybe gifted. Sorry for
the length. I hope this helps.

Rhonda
