Vicki,
My name is Mechelle Baker and I have a son Michael who had Encephalitis at
18mos.
and is now physically and mentally handicapped. Michael has had two Nissen
fundoplactions both of which have come undone. Michael, even though the fundo's
have
come undone, also suffers with bloating and distention. We have to be very care
how we
feed him because if he starts bloating and gets more than 21cm in diameter
around his waist then we have to hold off on his feedings until it goes down or
else he will reflux.
Some of the things we do to releave his bloating are:
1-heating pad on low with towel next to his skin
2-depending on the type of GT Tube he has/ or if he
has one, open the tube and let air escape or insert 30 or
60cc
syringe without plunger and let bubbles escape that way.
3- lay him on his stomach across two pillows
I hope some of this can help you. Good luck.
