Blake went to the GI doctor today. We are concerned because lately his aspiration is worse despite all the feeding therapy. His breathing is terrible.
Blake also has reflux and the GI doctor feels that he is probably aspirating that. He's been on Prevacid, which blocks the acid for sometime. But it doesn't stop the reflux, it just neutralizes it.
He ordered a gastric emptying scan and another pH Test. He said he wants to try some none invasive alternatives, but eventually if they don't work we may have to do resort to fundoplication and a feeding tube for liquids. I'm not sure what because Blake's already been on Reglan and it didn't seem to help much and I thought the possible side effects were scary.
I am just ready to have Blake breathing properly. I am hoping they can do something to help him.
I've also been in touch with Sara Rosenfeld-Johnson and Lori Overland about a feeding evaluation. We are planning to have Lori see him before we resort to the feeding tube.
