RE: [RefluxParents] Can anyone help??

Thanks, Jenny. Blake had alot of underlying problems along with the
reflux. He was allergic to diary, and sugar, and was eating those things.
So I don't know if the bloating was due to that, or the relfux. Some of
the dr's said he is swallowing air, that is the reason for the excessive
big swallows. Other doctors have said it is because of the reflux, trying
to swallow it back down. He did seems to get better after the fundo. and
had a much clamer attitude. He is know once again really aggitated and
bloated, just like before. And it seems like he is constantly swallowing
down something. I just hate to unnecessarily put him through test though.
He hates them, and it really scares him. They usually do a PH probe, that
is how we found out about the reflux in the first place. I just don't want
to do that test if I don't have to. Thanks for the input! Hopefully I
will figure this out! THanks

Carolynn

Hi Carolynn,

What were his symptoms pre-fundo? Did he report pain, did he have bad
breath, difficulty sleeping etc.? Were there particular behavioural
patterns that disappeared once he had the fundo? I'm no expert, but I
guess if some of his pre-fundo patterns come back, it might be a sign
that things are not right. Have you asked if he can have a barium
swallow to check if the fundo is intact? (I know that other people have
reported that it's not totally reliable, but at least it's a start, and
sometimes reflux shows up on the pictures as well).

Good luck,
--

Carolyn, ... Reflux can cause chest pains - because the esophagus goes into spasm. Before I started taking Prilosec myself I used to get really bad chest ...

It is interesting that you ask this today. I just read an article on Medscape(the Gastoenterology section) about a study that shows that at least 2/3 of all...
