Hi everyone,
I would like to know if your children's reflux seems to occur in "episodes"
or if it is constant. My daughter Rachel is 11 and at times her reflux is
terrible! She vomits, looses weight ,complains of pain all the time and has
terrible diarrhea. She has trouble running and playing because her stomach
hurts and is generally miserable. Then at other times she seem SO much
better and actually goes off the meds for a while 'cause we literally
"forget" to give them to her because she never complains. Her GI really
wants her to have a fundo because her Ph probes are so bad although she has
no signs of Barrett cells and only mild inflammation of her esophagus on the
endoscopy. I am so torn! Some times I know she NEEDS this at others I think
it is crazy to change her anatomy permanently when she has times when she
feels so well. UGH! Is it "normal" for the symptoms to vary so much? Please
let me know you experiences. When I speak to the doctors about the way the
symptoms vary they have no asweres or worse think I'm Nuts...the last time I
mentioned it to the pediatric GI she said "well I can discharge Rachel if
you want" ! Yeah right then when the symptoms are bad what do we do?
Sometimes I think I am crazy, too. No one seems to understand why this can be
such a frustrating disorder except for you ladies! My own sister told me
recently that she doesn't think Rachel has any problem, except fro having me
as a Mom...nice huh? (of course she has No children, just knows everything
about them!) Thanks Noreen
