Carole, My heart goes out to you.  My present husband also was very supportive when I had cancer.  Unfortunately, the doctor told him I would go into early menapause and he has used that.  Each time he takes money from me, overdraws our account, or refuses to pay bills and I get upset (I can't help myself), he says that I need help.  He also reminds me that he used to cook and clean when I had my last job.  Oh, by the way, he was out of work and just sat home and drank and smoked, and stole money from our account.   I have a taxi service and he sometimes works late at night.  He uses this excuse not to come home each day, not to bath, and to use this money to buy drugs.  I think I need to be in a group for nacotics, but I do qualify for both.    I understand not having any friends.  I had a couple friends, but my husband offended her and we no longer speak.  The other friend now sells him his drugs.  (she has been diagnosed with a terminal disease)  Now, I pay for her pills because I work and also from my checking if I leave any money in it (as my husband takes it out)   I have grandkids and so I have something to make me happy.  I have a job at a church, so I am surrounded by good people, but feel so alone.  I want to run away, but someone has to be responsible for the bills.    I have gotten insurance and assured my husband that our insurance will pay for treatment, but he does not have a problem, he says I do.  I know from the years I attended alanon that we cannot force someone to get help.  We have to get out of the way.  By the way, I am an alanon flunky.  I cannot be strong.  I am an enabler.   My son (who is a user), has pawned my lap top several times to get money.  I found out today that he used my husbands credit card to get money.  (he had his pregnant girlfriend sign the paper)  Now, how am I going to prosecute some young girl who is carrying my grandchild.  I am so weak.    Debby Smith From: Carole Rocheleau <dads_up2heaven@ hotmail.com> To: recovery-world- al-anon@yahoogro ups.com Sent: Saturday, June 27, 2009 10:22:13 PM Subject: RE: [Recovery-World- Al-Anon] Re: Hi everybody. Hi Debby, my name is Carole. I live with an alcoholic for nine yrs now.. I have left him once. He drew me back into his web by telling me he was going to AA and counseling. Now my health has declined with two gastroscopies and he was very supportive during that time. But now he brings it up every time I try to  talk about him drinking. I don't know how to get him to admit that he has a problem. He has managed to ruin many friendship I had, distance me from my family and even tried to break the bond between my son and I. I have no means of supporting myself, or even a place to go. If someone could give me advice on how to talk to him and get him into AA. I know that I have to take care of myself first and I do, but he is very coniving and untrust worthy. He has been abusive once and mentally abuse on a daily basis. I have no more confidence, nor friends and no conversation with him, only my little kitten Cloe.
