Hi Kathryn...
I have not taken that antidepressant in years and then had to get off of it
within a week for other bad side effects (had grand mal seizure and other
scary side effects). But, I too have gain a TON of weight and I am not sure
which medication or medications are causing it. When I had the fusion surgery
on my foot that started this whole process of RSD, I weighed 100 sopping wet
at 5'4". For the first couple years, my weight remained more or less
*ok*...then I started to slowly put on weight after about a year. So last
year at about this time I weighed 120 or so. OK, can sort of live with that,
I guess. BUT, then in May I started gaining a ton of weight. I literally
cannot wear anything I own anymore, and if I get something new (and bigger),
within a couple weeks, I have outgrown that too. My doctor does not even
address this concern, but when you consider that I now weight 1-1/2 times
more than I did in Dec. 1998, there is something not right! So it is not only
the Ampytripline (sp? Elavil is much easier to spell!), but some other meds
we are taking. Oddly, I have not really had any major change in my meds in
this time, or in the dosage either. Anyone else have this problem and if so,
what did you do? I am on methadone, baclofen, neurontin, xanax and celexa.
Soft hugs to all, Carolyn
