4. The New Face of Fibromyalgia: The American Pain Foundation will host a one-hour online interactive webinar, “The New Face of Fibromyalgia,” Tuesday, March 10 at 7 p.m. (EST). The program features Kim Dupree Jones, PhD, Associate Professor in the Schools of Nursing and Medicine at Oregon Health & Science University, who will speak on the latest guidelines for the diagnosis and treatment of fibromyalgia. 5. Co-Pay Relief: The Patient Advocate Foundation’s Co-Pay Relief Program now includes a pain fund to serve patients suffering with chronic pain. The program is open to patients who financially and medically qualify for co-payment assistance. 6. Free Guide to Safe Use of Pain Medications: Pain relief treatments come in many forms and potencies, are available by prescription or over-the-counter (OTC), and treat all sorts of physical pain—including that brought on by chronic conditions such as fibromyalgia. However, misuse of these products can be extremely harmful and even deadly. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration offers a free guide, “A Guide to Safe Use of Pain Medicine,” that includes information on the types of pain relievers, appropriate use, active ingredients, abuse and more.
