Re: [SPAM][RHODE_ISLAND_FIBROMYALGIA-CFS_SUPPORT] Can anyone help me find a helpful Dr. to help diagnose/treat FM in RI!
Hi Shannon. My name is Kerrie, and I created this group. I have fibro and so many other things wrong with my it would take too long to list.
I'm sorry I haven't gotten back to you sooner. I have been having seizures lately, and I have been fainting. I cracked my head up pretty good, you should see it. Ugh. And tomorrow I have to go to consult with a surgeon because I need to have my gall bladder out, I have stones.
I have a great primary care doc, but she is not taking anymore patients. However, the doctor who dxed my fibro is WONDERFUL, and as far as I know, she is still taking new patients. I referred one other member from this group to her, and he loved her. She is so sweet, if you go to her, you will see. She is VERY gentle too. She is a rheumatologist. You need to be seen by one if you want to get a diagnosis. This woman will believe you and listen to you. PLEASE, make an appt. ASAP before she doesn't take anyone else. Actually, I have my bf going to see her. When you make an appt. with her, it may take a long time to get in as she is always really booked. You can always tell them to call you if they have a cancelation too, if you appt is months away. I know she has more than one office, but here is her name and #:
Dr. Wendy Silversmith
1351 South County Trail
Suite #301
East Greenwich, RI 02818
PHONE: 348-2180
I cannot remember where her other offices are right at the moment. She used to be located on Dudley St., right near RI Hospital. It was convenient for me there. I live in Providence. But, I would go anywhere to see her. She is so awesome and she has helped me a lot. I got my mom in to see her, and she loves her too.
I want to write and chat more, but right now my head is killing me and I am so tired my eyes are drooping. If you ever need someone to chat with about this monster fibro and all the other things that go along with it, or trade "war stories", let me know. Email me at this address anytime you want, or email through the group. I am 30 years old, divorced but live with my bf, have 3 kitties (my bunny just died last month, it was heart breaking), and I have many interests. I wish I wasn't so damn tired right now. But right now you need to get yourself a good doc. I know how it is, believe me. I went bouncing from doc to doc at first. It took me over a year to get a GOOD doc. I was dxed with the fibro in 2002, but I and the doc believe I have had it since I was 15, when I had severe mono. I have severe fibro too. Hey, at least I don't do anything half assed, lol.
So call Dr. Silversmith and try to make an appt. ASAP. Let me know how you make out, ok? I am here if you ever want to chat, vent, whatever. I know what a crappy life fibro gives ya. I am bedridden @ 95% of the time. I have a lot of other medical issues though besides the fibro. I'll tell 'em to ya sometime, lol. Something to look forward to. Kidding.
It sounds like we both went through the same shit with being sent to OB/GYNs and gastro docs and what not. It's a sin how the medical community works. I am on disability myself. Only SSDI. Not SSI. I get a whopping $679 a month, and that is IT. No food stamps or any other kind of assistance. It's a damn good thing I have my bf or I would be screwed. I have to pay $96 a month for Medicare too, and they SUCK. Even with coverage, this year alone I have spent $957 on prescriptions alone. It's so sad.
Well, I have to run but I hope to talk to you soon! Email me to let me know how you make out or just to chat.
Gentle Hugz-
~*Kerrie*~
We are here to do good, help others, then shut up and GO HOME!

Subject: [SPAM][RHODE_ISLAND_FIBROMYALGIA-CFS_SUPPORT] Can anyone help me find a helpful Dr. to help diagnose/treat FM in RI!
Hi! My name is shannon and I am 28yrs old. Ive been living with
major depression, anxiety and pain since I was in Jr high. The pain
worsened in my 20's along with the emotional issues and some
other "women's issues". Ive been told by many clinics etc to be
checked out for FM. A few NP's even told me they were convinced, but
since they werent my GP they couldnt do anything about a diagnosis.
My mother was diagnosed with it 15yrs ago, along with her diabetes,
and her symptoms are all I know about the disease, so I was sure I
didnt have it until I read a little deeper into some of the variety
of symptoms.
Its been hell the past few years to find a good doctor let alone see
one. I have no insurance and pay everything out of pocket, and I am
currently applying for benefits through DHS. Unfortunatley DHS has
deadlines on paperwork and I fear I will be denied because I cant
find a doctor who is willing to look past their assumptions (your too
young etc etc) and actually take the time to try to help me. Even
if I dont have it, it is hell to find someone who can help me control
my pain and help with the emotional side and sleep deprivation. Im
scared of meds... would prefer alts.. but.. Im willing to do anything
to feel the least bit better.
Does anyone know of a good doctor in RI that could help me find out
if I have this or not and if so would be willing to help me?? I
keep getting the run arround with refferals from hospitals to doctors
of the wrong specialty (Ive been sent to obgyns and gastros!! lol)
I live in warwick... but the distance isnt a problem. Thanks so
much.... and thanks for this group... it helps me feel like I am a
little less crazy!!
