According to the newest AHA guidelines prolapse mitral valve patients do not
have to premedicate any longer unless their MD or cardiologist wants them to
premedicate. The script is supposed to come from the MD or cardiologist at this
point in time not the dentist for this as well.
The AHA guidelines also state that the premedication can be taken anywhere from
30 minutes to one hr. prior to treatment up to 2 hrs. after treatment.
