OK the new debate in our office is powered toothbrushes. I have been partial to powered toothbrushes (especially Sonic-type) over manual toothbrushes for several reasons. The main one being patient compliance. Our office has been promoting the Oral-B line for several years. I have been with the practice for 1 year today. The other hygienist prefers the Oral-B Vitality and recommends it to her patients. Today, a Sonicare rep came to the office and wanted to speak to a hygienist. We were not seeing patients today but I was there catching up on some stuff but the OM said there was no one there to speak to the rep. I didn't want to make her look silly (don't know why) so kept quiet and listened in. Long story short, the OM scheduled a "lunch" with the rep but told her that we (RDHs) prefered Oral-B. Anyway, I want to be prepared with as much knowledge as possible for this lunch in a couple of weeks. I personally love the Sonicare-that is what my family uses. I have done some basic research on PubMed but most of what I am finding is sponsored by the manufacturers, etc. What I want to know is practical information that I can relate easily to the OM. What do you guys prefer? Oscillating, Rotary, Sonic, manual, etc? Why?
