communicating through smoke signals in the south west

smoke signals and communications,

drawing from the lessons of the medicine wheel,  Will you are drawing upon the teachings of the south west,  the realm of the medicine chiefs, journeyers, and story tellers.

the story tellers stay in the camp.  they exist around a fire and share stories in which they have heard and have had passed down to them through time.

the journeyer take the stories from the tellers and travel with them.. often the stories can be in the form of a traveling song.  "over the river and through the woods to grandmothers house we go..."   similar medicine songs have been passed down through oral traditions from antiquity.  a wise man once told me that the shan han lun was a synthesis of the I Ching and the ancient Chinese medicine songs.

the journeyers take people from place to place,   those who travel with the journeyer's are not required to know the songs,  they merely follow.   the journeyer may use discretion as to who to travel with.  not everyone is allowed access to every journey.   i believe this opens to an esoteric realm of transference.

when the journeyer's are out and about they often meet others and learn new stories, or even make stories of their own.  they then report back to the storyteller who  learns the new stories and shares again with the  journeyer giving him more places to explore.

the medicine chiefs travel, tell stories, and experience life to the fullest.  they seek to understand all aspects of life,  apply it to themselves, and then share it appropriately with others.  there is a greater level of autonomy with the medicine chiefs.  greater flexibility, movement, and devotion to others.

medicine chiefs only share what they have personally experienced.  the story tellers live a static life,  learning about things, but not experiencing them.  the journeyers follow up on stories, they connect the dots between established points.  the medicine chiefs transcend that structure and through presence, curiosity, willingness, and compassion seek to enhance their personal lives as well as the lives of those around them though existing and flirting with possibility.

when driven to communicate we have several options.
1.  we can share what we have read about, (theory)
2.   we can share what we have acted upon and learned, (theory with practice)
3.we can be innovative and invoke novelty (theory + practice + exploration= wow)

we all have the ability to send smoke signals as a medicine chief.  all it takes is a willingness to accept our current constraints, be greatful to acknowledge them, stretch them out, twist them, make them different, and explore with balance.  seeking to optimize our personal experience and genuinely sharing what that is with others  (with innocence and trust)  will  greatly enhance our  ability to  gain wisdom from  each other as a group

collectively we have so many stories,
we have gone on so many journey's

we are medicine chiefs

inspired though communication,

dan
