Hi Everyone,

No. Our training consisted of one or the other of our teachers telling
us something about the pulses ... literally. No course on pulses etc.
And in clinic what we felt was either "correct" or it was slippery and
wiry or thin. And, from what I hear in seminars, I had the same
experience as many many many Practitioners of TCM.
I learned through internship/mentorship with Jim Ramholz for which I
am so grateful. He also taught a full semester course in PD (it was
extra time and extra money, not included in the curriculum and still is
not) - so I benefited greatly from that combination (semester long
course, mentor).

Not according to the participants who come to seminars that I teach -
and they come from a wide range of schools and years since graduation.

At my school, according to the last Dean to whom I spoke, it's because
the method has to be what they call "pure TCM" .... that's why Jim's
course was an elective. "Pure TCM" .... how about being able to read a
pulse well, give an effective treatment, and check right then that you
are being effective? That's good treatment whether it's "pure TCM" or
not.
I think that schools should all have a minimum of a semester long
course at the beginning of your training, then follow up courses. Why
not? How are we to become effective diagnosticians otherwise?
Thanks for the survey!
