Hi KD,
The expectation is that after palpating, or needling the xi cleft, the tai yang  manifestation in the pulse will subside, pain will reduce, and range of motion will increase. Should this happen with the xi cleft, we would then build the treatment out to include a Divergent or TMM based on the chronology of the injury.
