Re: [PulseDiagnosis] 2 questions and 2 cases

Hey Luke,
Good use of front mu, compass, biao li and bie jing with the presented cases. Here are some thoughts regarding your questions.

1. Can I build out a tx using an 8 extra pulse and one or more of the other methods ie Dai pulse and Yang Ming blocks (day time wei qi cycle)?
Definitely, but you want to have presentations that require combining these modalities. If for instance, a patient presented with low back pain, you might start by utilizing the day time wei qi cycle, Xi cleft St34. If there was not a signifigant change in pain and the pulse and assuming the middle position was still full, then the dai mai could be incorporated, Gb41 to open and local points.

2. When building out a treatments using the 8 extras ie Dai
pulse, I would open with GB 41 and then choose points along the trajectory? Can I choose points off the meridian and if so do they take away the focus from the Dai?

Again using the example above, other points could certainly be incorporated, Ub40,Ub63,K3,local points, as well as additional points to address the yang ming block.

Joe

Case 1     40 yr female CC insomnia. She's in LA for a training at

is good
P. wiry and rapid
T. red, no coat

I used the night time wei qi cycle and found a blog on earth with a
compass of fire. The tx opened with sp 2. The pulse shifted
slightly.  This is my build out:
LV 13, SP 4, ST 36, Ren 17, Du 24, Sp 8

Case 2     30 yr female CC Lumbar back pain. Upon return from Brazil
patient strained back at customs while trying to lift boyfriend's
case. Other symptoms include fatigue, voracious appetite, and
bloating after eating.
P. rapid full, and wiry
T. shrunken and red
I used the day time wei qi cycle. The blog was on tai yin. I
palpated Sp 8 and the pulse evened out. I decided to start local
Build out:
UB 23, 52, huato jia ji and shi points. A huge histamine response
occurred and the needle trembled vigorously. I added GB 35. LI 4 and
LV 3 to round it out. After 3 treatments patient reported 85%
improvem9pient of back pain.

Thanks for your input
