May was referring to abdominal pulsations. The chi position (right third or proximal position) is correlated with san jiao superficial and pericardium deep when examining the flow of ying qi through the vessels. This presumably occurs because the SJ and PC channels originate in the ming men. Other associations are ascribed to the right proximal position including kidney yang, kidney, bladder, and right ovary depending on whether you examine function, anatomy or vessel flow.

I am only aware of the umbilical pulse being located in the qi position (deeply) of the patients right hand, when the physicians three fingers are placed just behind the styloid process (in the Art of Jin Shin Jyutsu pulse listening). According to the Neo-Classical Pulse, is this the KD Yang position? Thanks, Aaron
