The umbilical pulse is usually the abdominal aorta. If it is palpated just below the umbilicus, it can be the left or right common iliac arteries. It is normal to feel it when pressing deeply in the midline above the umbilicus. This aortic pulsation is easily felt on most individuals. A well defined, pulsatile mass, greater than 3 cm across, suggests an aortic aneurysm.

I would like to know what artery Am I feeling when I check the
umbilical pulse if any. I was told it is the ascending aorta but
that artery is usually more to the left of the vertebral column at
the level of L3-L4 where the navel level is.
